Egypt Tailor Made — Local services in Giza

I am giving Egypt Tailor Made 3 stars because while they got me from Aswan to Luxor safely, they made a couple of mistakes along the way and then lied about it.

I booked with Egypt Tailor Made because I saw on a blog they had a tour that stopped at Kom Ombo, Edfu and Esna. None of the other companies stopped at Esna, so I paid the higher price with them to book this tour.

They showed up 40 minutes late for pick-up the day of the tour, in an unmarked vehicle. As a woman travelling solo, I was concerned about getting into a random car but luckily the front desk of the guest house I was staying at was able to confirm they were who I was travelling with that day.

We stopped at Kom Omdo and Edfu which were fantastic. Kom Omdo was especially wonderful and I really appreciated that we got there after the Nile Cruise boats so we had most of the place to ourselves.

However, we skipped the temple of Esna. At 4:15pm, the driver turns to me and says "Welcome to Luxor!" I tried to ask him about Esna, but he didn't understand so I texted and emailed with Egypt Tailor Made. They apologized that we didn't have time to visit and said it was due to the late driver and that the temple closed at 5pm. They did offer me a chance to go back the next day or a felucca ride, but I had tours booked for all 3 days I was in Luxor so I was not able to take them up on either offer.

The part that bothered me however is the blatant lie. Since the temple is an hour away, that means we would have been there around 3pm which would have been more than enough time for a stop. The driver simply forgot. We all make mistakes and are human, but I wish they could have been honest instead of trying to lie to cover up their mistakes. I should also mention that when I pointed this out to them both in email and over Whatsapp that they stopped...

He even followed up after we left Cairo, though he was no longer guiding us; an amazing gesture of kindness and professionalism.

When we had to cut the trip short for emergency medical reasons, Ms. Naglaa generously offered a refund for the unused days, even though the situation wasn’t their fault. That speaks volumes about their integrity.

We spent 6 days at Cairo including a tour to Alexandria. Our entire Cairo tour, Alexandria tour and airport transfers were handled by Egypt Tailor Made Tours. We were looking for a private tour for two of us, without accommodation. has the flexibility to visit Cairo at our own pace. Egypt has several top rated Travel companies and to select the one that suits our need was very tough. But undoubtedly this company was perfect for us and met all our expectations. I sent the list of places to be visited and the travel dates. They chalked out the entire trip for us which suited us. I found this company very professional organized, and the entire trip was smooth without any difficulty. Qazafi, our car driver was very polite punctual and took care of us quite well. Heba was tour guide at Cairo and she is undoubtedly one among the best. We felt comfortable with her on the day one itself. She has a pleasant personality, has indepth knowledge of Egyptian history and presented it very well. She was always very calm and composed, never rushed through places. She took some brilliant pictures for us. She saw to it that we had the best experience in Egypt. We had a lot of chitchat throughout our trips and had a lot of fun like travelling with a friend. We met as tourist and guide, but parted as friends. Only disappointment we had with our Alexandria day tour with a different tour guide, where we were rushed through the Catacombs visit even though we had a lot of time in hand.
