Very Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Time or Money
I was genuinely frustrated by the experience of the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids. The show lasted less than an hour and was extremely basic, lacking any real effects, creativity, or engaging content. It felt outdated and boring, far from what you'd expect at such a globally iconic site.
I booked a VIP ticket expecting a better experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t offer any added value. The seating was dusty and uncomfortable, with no noticeable perks compared to regular tickets. It definitely didn’t justify the higher price.
The technology used was shockingly outdated. The radio translator devices were of very poor quality — the sound was muffled, full of static, and felt like something from decades ago.
There was no designated parking area, which forced me to deal with random local individuals offering parking services without any official supervision. This felt unsafe and unprofessional, especially for visitors who might not be familiar with the area.
Also, the WhatsApp number listed on the official website is unreliable. I messaged them with an inquiry and only received a reply the next day — totally unacceptable for a tourism service.
Summary: We need to present our civilization and historical landmarks in a way that makes Egyptians proud and leaves tourists with a positive impression. I had considered inviting foreign friends to this show, but after this experience, I’m glad I saw it first — I definitely won’t be recommending it, as it would only damage our country’s reputation. Read moreThis show is real vintage. It has been going on for over half a century which is nothing compared to the age of the pyramids. In the theatrical narrative, piped to the seated audience through the loudspeakers, a fairytale like, completely illusionary story about the construction of the pyramids is being narrated in various languages by voices reminiscent of black and white cloth and dagger movies of the 50' (like the Ben Hur). It is funny how obsolete it is in our modern times of holograms and lasers. Honestly, I would not waste my time with it. It is much better to go and visit the pyramids during the day. It becomes more than obvious that the pyramids have not been built by any slaves to house some tyrant's dead body. The pyramids were merely repurposed to burial sites much later in their history after the demise of their unknown original builders. A lot of effort is made to conceal the truth about the pyramids. However, to sell them to the gullible public as funeral sites is truly laughable. It only underscores the self-centred attitude of the "modern man". Is it not about time to change...
Read moreThis is where we realize that Egypt is an authoritarian regime. Private evening in front of the pyramids, loud camping music which prevents everyone in the hotel from sleeping for a few selected people. No respect for egyptian people working around, no respect for the tourists.
With this type of party, no interest in sleeping in front of the pyramids and it's a shame for all the people we met, working for Egyptian tourism and trying to promote their heritage.
You don't find this kind of evening in front of the Louvre, the British Museum, the Colosseum or any high cultural center. Such an heritage should be better highlighted. It impacts visits, it denatures the site.
We come to see the magnificent pyramids, not to listen to such music with the bass blasting. Video with music played in front and real volume. Everybody complained in the hotel but nothing to do...
Seriously a person in charge authorized this ?...
