⭐⭐ A Good Kobe Beef Experience with Room for Improvement KOBE BEEF DAIA TEPPAN-YAKI KAMINARIMON EAST BRANCH offers a good foundation for enjoying premium Kobe beef. The setting is quite nice: we were seated in a private room, which provided a comfortable and intimate atmosphere for our group of seven. The Kobe beef was very good, and we appreciated the opportunity to sample different cuts of meat. However, there were a few noticeable areas that could be improved, particularly regarding the execution of the full dining experience: Side Dish Quality: The overall attention to detail in the cooking of the accompanying dishes seemed to be lacking. Specifically, the rice arrived cold, which was disappointing. Service/Procedure: Our group of seven ordered the same type of beef but in different weights. We noted that the meat was not weighed before being served, which raised concerns about portion accuracy. Overall, the quality of the beef itself makes this a worthwhile visit. With a little more attention to the consistency of the cuisine (like ensuring all components are served hot) and clarity in their serving procedures, this restaurant has the potential to be a truly top-tier teppanyaki...
Read moreSo I wanted to get some real Kobe beef and through Google, I was led to this restaurant. First off, there are several of them, within a square mile, plus my Japanese is not good at all to get directions, so it was difficult to find. According to the website, there were 3 different lunch specials. One for roughly 7000 yen, one for 11,000 yen and one for 19,000 yen. I made the reservation and chose the 11,000 yen selection. Once we got there, we were presented with a menu that had maybe 5 choices, none of which were the 11,000 one that we ordered. We were told that the one costing the least was not a great cut. There were 3 of us, so we chose the “bottom” 3, the least of which, I believe was 10,000 yen, the highest was 24,000 yen. The meat was delicious, the salad was ok, the vegetables were delicious but you didn’t get very much, 1/8 of a bell pepper, 1 stalk of leek, 1 slice of zucchini, one piece of mushroom and one slice of some kind of melon. And rice. The chef was ok, didn’t talk, explain any of the meats or cuts. I understand that Kobe beef is not going to be cheap but the meal ended up being $346 usd. The meat was superb but I feel duped by the pricing on the web being...
Read moreThis is the first review I have ever written. My husband and I booked a reservation for lunch at this restaurant based on all the great reviews. We were so disappointed. They claim the beef is A5 Kobe wagyu beef but I doubt it. We had the chateaubriand and the sirloin. The chateaubriand was definitely better than the sirloin but not great. I was surprised to find that the sirloin was chewy even with the marbling of fat. This place is pricey and not worth the money. My husband thought the bone-in ribeye that I buy at my local Vons was better. We did go to an incredible Michelin rated restaurant in Kobe called Setsugetsuka Hanare (Annex) which was recommended by a local Japanese work colleague from Kobe. The price was overall less expensive and the meat melted in your mouth. In my life, I have never tasted beef this delicious and I eat a lot of beef as well as cook steaks regularly. These were the same cuts of meat purchased at the Tokyo restaurant. Don’t be fooled by the reviews. Save your money and find a better place for A5 Kobe Wagyu beef in Tokyo or take a trip to Kobe and visit the restaurant mentioned above. You won’t be...
