MUST TRY Bánh Mì in Tokyo
Food: Everything we ordered went so well with each other. The salad was fresh and layered. It keeps you interested throughout. The roll was balanced in flavour and pleasing in outlook. Both are a perfect match with the main dish - bánh mì - coming with liver sauce that frightened me at first but then made it stand out from all the other unauthentic ones. Even my Viet sweetheart gave it five stars - can one give its fewer?
Service: We waited for not too long for a take-away. The Viet-styled decor, especially the photo of Viet president eating in the same room(!!), would make one forget about the time.
Atmosphere: If my memory was correct, Vietnamese pop-songs were played. The glass window enabled a spectacular view of the famous Sumida River 隅田川, which was often depicted in traditional Japanese paintings. Our meal was enjoyed just next to the bridge. We found the low illumination level superb for a pair like us, although a crowd of teenagers was close to us... incidentally, they were from Vietnam!!
Conclusion: For sure this is one of the most satisfying restaurant in Tokyo featuring bánh mì. Now that I tried a poor version in Paris (also made by local Vietanmese but...) and miss Xin Chào! Please keep up the great service and let Viet...

Worth it just for the view!!!!
However it's a long wait because they only have two people operating the whole store. I feel sorry for them because it must be very stressful. They didn't even have time to clean up the trays of the previous customers and new people were coming in.
The owner really does need to hire more people. Also they need to pay more attention to sanitation and wipe up the windows and counters more!!! This busy scene is like an equation for food poisoning, if you ask me.
The waitress wiped the table but she forgot to wipe the chair which was full of bread crumbs. They're too busy. Everything seems very rushed.
If you're in a hurry I don't recommend coming here. After 12:40 we still had to wait about 20 minutes for our food. The flavor wasn't bad.
I ordered an iced coffee latte and I completely forgot that Vietnamese coffee is really really really really really sweet. So keep that in mind if you're ordering it.
The menu can be seen by QR code using your phone but you actually have to order at the counter.
The view was amazing and we could enjoy the wonderful scenery...
Read moreMy husband brought me here, saying this Vietnamese spot is known for their bánh mì and has great reviews.
The place is cozy and comfortable, and the staff are super friendly. They even greeted us in Vietnamese, maybe we looked Vietnamese? (We’re actually Chinese-Indonesian, hahaha). In the end we just ordered in English.
This is honestly the first time I’ve had really good bánh mì. I’ve tried it at Vietnamese restaurants in Indonesia but never liked the bread much, here, the bread is crispy and the filling is delicious. I’ll definitely come back for the grilled pork bánh mì.
My husband ordered the special bánh mì that comes with a fried egg inside. We also shared a bowl of bún bò Huế just to try it. The broth and noodle texture were nice, but personally I didn’t love the slight “seafood” aroma, so my husband ended up finishing it all.
We also ordered iced Vietnamese coffee, so good, strong coffee, and super refreshing for summer.
Overall, cozy place with friendly staff and the best bánh mì I’ve had so far. Will definitely come...
