Shinjuku Station — Local services in Tokyo

I originally thought this was the worst station in Asia. But, having travelled fairly extensively around the world, I can safely say this is the worst station in the world. They clearly never do any live testing to see how their lack of signage is completely useless. Why not try and get from Nishi Shinjuku to one if your world famous locations, Harajuku. See if someone with no knowledge of Tokyo can exit into Shinjuku station from the Marunouchi Line and somehow find the Yamanote Line. See how many signs you see for that line. I will tell you. There is not a single one. It's not even on the underground map. It's not until you accidentally stumble upon the JR Lines that you will see a sign for it. But rest assured, you will never have found it from their signs. It will be by pure accident alone. I can't believe that the busiest station in the world does not run live testing like this, but obviously it does not. That is why it is the worst in the world. The staff at any of the information counters or gates, or offices are quite rude. I had one middle age insisting on speaking Japanese to me, when I am obviously a tourist. With eye rolling and so much attitude. After explaining I don’t speak Japanese, and used Google translate to translate my question- and show it to him, he suddenly could speak a bit of English and raised his voice and told me which platform my train was on.
