Hate to be that guy - but found this place to be okay at best. We came here twice while we were in Pokhara because our first experience was not good, but we really liked the owner so wanted to give them a second chance.
The first time we came was at dinner time - we called ahead with our reservation of 18 - the people were fully aware we were coming, and when we arrived they then told us their Tandoor operator was there so no naan or anything that could come from their Tandoor menu (half the menu). Honestly, at that point it was too late to go somewhere else, but we should have, but mostly I was annoyed they didn't tell us that when we called. Half your menu is unavailable including ALL your breads -that is just unacceptable to not tell people. When we did eat, many of the dishes simply did not come, the service was sporadic, and they were overcrowded. They accepted many large groups after we were sat and they did not have the staff in the kitchen nor for service to adequately handle the amount of people there.
Spice - zero. We asked for extra spice in everything - there was no spice flavor at all. The best dish was the Honey Chili Potatoes, which were actually fantastic and the Paneer Patiala and Paneer Angara.
The second time we went - we told them about our poor first experience, especially, the fact that we didn't get half the food we ordered. We came for lunch this time, and while the service was much, much better, I think the food was again just okay. If you are making indian food it NEEDS to have a level of spice, it can't just be creamy - all the food was just cream and butter. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but it wasn't indian food.
The vibe and decor is nice, the owner is wonderful, but the food itself is okay at best. There are 2 floors, an indoors and outdoors - the place has terrific potential, just needs to actually make Indian food the way it should be instead of a...
Read moreIf you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main Lakeside strip in Pokhara, this restaurant is an absolute gem tucked just a little inside the area. From the moment I walked in, I knew I had discovered something special.
The place has a peaceful, almost magical garden setting that immediately puts you at ease. The ambiance is serene and thoughtfully designed, with a warm, homely seating area that makes you feel like you’re relaxing in a close friend’s backyard. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, read a book, or simply enjoy a quiet meal surrounded by nature.
What truly elevates the experience here is the incredible team. Roshan, Rajan, and Ram were attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Their service was impeccable, striking that perfect balance between professionalism and warmth.
A special shoutout must go to the owner, Tanka, whose presence and passion were felt throughout the restaurant. I watched him move from table to table — taking orders, helping the staff, and chatting with guests like they were old friends. It’s rare to see an owner so involved and genuinely caring about every single customer’s experience. You can tell the layout, decor, and even the flow of the restaurant were crafted with love and vision.
And let’s not forget the food — absolutely delicious! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and made with fresh, quality ingredients. From presentation to taste, everything was top notch. You can feel the care and thought behind every plate.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting Pokhara, make sure to carve out time for this place. It’s more than just a restaurant — it’s a retreat for the soul with good food, amazing people, and a setting that will linger in your heart long...
Read moreWe had mutton Seekh Kababs and Mutton Sekuwa with plain Naan. Getting the Seekh Kabab (or any similar varieties of minced and barbecued kababs) cooked right is difficult unless you are in an Islamic country like Pakistan or Turkey. Being in Nepal, the Seekh Kabab Utopia offered was very good. The Mutton Sekuwa, on the other hand, was superb. The quality of the meat was excellent, and the cooking time was on the spot. Perfect to wrap it in a piece of Naan and gobble it down! We didn't try other dishes there, but inferring from the fact that they got complex dishes right means the rest of the Indian fare on the menu must be excellent.
Another thing many restaurants featuring Indian/south-central Asian food often don't get right is quickly replenishing Naan or other bread on the table so that the dishes don’t go cold waiting for the bread to arrive. When we ran out of Naan, it took only 5 minutes for the staff to bring the fresh ones from the tandoor! The place was not crowded, so perhaps that’s why, but the service was commendable. The ambiance was nice, but there were mosquitoes galore. Lather with mosquito spray if you're headed there in the summer/wet season. It is located by the pedestrian side street adjacent to the lake, so there is no vehicular access or parking. But it’s just a short hop from the main Lakeside street, so it’s not a big issue. I will...
