I moved into a new home, in mid-November, that had no heating other than two wall mounted electric heaters and a multi fuel stove. The previous property owner left me no information regarding when the chimney was last swept so, for obvious reasons, I didn't want to light it. The house had been empty for some time and the outside temperature was dropping so, I set about calling Chimney Sweeps. I must have called at least 14 Sweeps over two hours and was told by all that answered, or returned my calls, that they were busy for weeks in advance so, couldn't help. I'd resigned myself to accepting the earliest date offered, the 15th December when, at tea time Charlie returned my call and having listened to my predicament, said he would make an early start the following morning and come to me before 8am.
