This was the WORST dining experience of my 20 years living in Atlanta—and ended with a trip to the EMERGENCY ROOM as my friend went into anaphylaxis after being assured her dish had no nuts three (3) times.
Where to begin with the absolute horror that was this experience. We made a reservation for 8PM and had to wait 30 minutes to be seated (many others did too—people were standing around and visibly displeased). We were finally seated and it took the waiter another 30 minutes to even take our order. No big deal—places get overwhelmed on a Saturday night. If only that was the worst of it.
My friend has a serious nut allergy. We told the waiter and he said it’d be “no problem”and he would “tell the kitchen.” Our food came out 45 minutes later, and when it did, we again asked if her dish had any nuts and our waiter confirmed there were none and again said he “told the kitchen” about her allergy.
My friend took ONE bite and her lips began to swell.
We flagged the waiter down and AGAIN asked if there were nuts in the dish. This time he said, “I mean, I don’t know, we tried.” At this point, my friend had entered anaphylactic shock.
As her throat is closing and we attempt to either call an ambulance or administer an epi pen, the waiter handed us the mobile pay device to CHARGE us $120 for the meal.
We spent the rest of the evening at the Piedmont Emergency Room down the road. Luckily it was a 7 minute drive from the restaurant. But if it hadn’t been, my friend could have died.
Even the ER doctor expressed disdain for the series of events. She was kept overnight because the reaction was so severe.
I understand it can be difficult to accommodate allergies. But for staff to verbally represent—not once, but THREE times—that a dish is safe and allergen free is nothing short of reckless and blatantly negligent. I’ve been coming to Storcio Fresco for years. Myself and my parents have even bought their frozen pastas for years—no more. I will warn anyone who asks to steer clear of this restaurant.
Appalling. Do better. Next time a patron is handed an allergen-contaminated dish, the restaurant might not...
Read moreWell after so much hype and following them on IG I finally made it... The atmosphere I loved, they have music playing and the lights were dim. I was there on a Friday night. The seating is very open and very welcoming however the tables are pretty close to each other due to the place being on the smaller side. I loved that you could purchase pasta and cheese. We started off with the bread and olive oil which was so damn good OMG the bread had a great hard outside but not too hard and so soft inside and the olive was so smooth and had such a great flavor. For an appetizer we had the Fritto misto di Mare and this was top notch for sure, the branzino literally just came out the water is was so fresh, calamari was good but the shrimp AMAZING!!! The shrimp was so plump and juicy perfect breading ratio. The waiter asked if we wanted marinara sauce with the appetizer and I said yes because most of the time this type of appetizer comes with it well when we got the bill it was a charge for it, it was only 1.00 but still you should tell patrons that. For dinner I order the Cacio e Pepe it was ok not great and kinda disappointing. The portions are pretty small compared to most Italian restaurants and my friend had the chitarra arrabbiata which was ok as well. Our waiter Jedidiah was super friendly, sweet, kind and pretty cute lol. When I first got there the another patron walked in without reservations and the hostess told her that she could seat her but she only had an hour to eat due to the restaurant having a lot of reservations.. WOW that was the first time I have ever heard a hostess tell someone that... So I highly recommend you make reservations and parking totally sucks if you can't find street parking just valet save yourself. Overall I wish I could give 3.5 stars because I enjoyed the atmosphere, great appetizers and great customer service by Jedidiah but the meal was blah blah.. I will go back but will probably stick to the bread and...
Read moreStorico Fresco Ristorante is a hipster version of a classic Italian restaurant located in the Buckhead suburb of Atlanta, GA.
Dylan, my server, greeted me right away with a smile and took my drink order. I ordered the smoked old fashion, an old drink that is making a comeback. Classics like that never die! As I was sitting there looking over the menu for my order, I could smell smoke from somewhere. I initially thought that another table nearby was getting the same drink I was. The smoke smell was strong but pleasant, announcing my drink before it arrived.
The old fashion arrived in a large glass container where it was poured in front of me so I could see the smoke billowing out. It was quite a show - classy, for this classy cocktail. The drink itself was good, but had a slight chemical aftertaste, from the smoking process. It was not overwhelming, but it was definitely there. It was not noticeable enough for me not to order a second one! LOL
The meatballs were ordered as my appetizer (on the menu as polpette). They arrived hot with a generous amount of red sauce. They were great but the star of the dish was the Italian bread that came with them. I am told it is imported directly from Italy. It was one of the most delicious breads I have ever eaten. It was crispy and flaky, with delightful bubbles filled with just the right amount of salt. I could have eaten that bread as a meal with the red sauce - YUM and well done!
For my main course, I ordered the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese which is a wide noodle smothered in meat sauce. I wanted comfort food, and this did the trick. It was rich in flavor and perfectly cooked. Nothing fancy, just delicious.
I will be rating this restaurant 5 stars. It is well worth...
