Initially after the first visit with Dr. Marks I left a review giving the practice 5 stars…. After reading my after visit report, and my phone correspondence with the practice, I had to change my review to better reflect my experience… There are multiple inconsistencies in the report (and this has happened on more than 3 occasions during my visits among the University of Maryland Medical System practices/hospital)… information that I did not even mention was listed in my chart, things we discussed were documented incorrectly. As an RN myself, and someone who has been in the medical field for over 14 years, I understand that things happen and errors can occur, I am also willing to give a person or practice the benefit of the doubt, assuming they’re willing to rectify the issues. I sent a message via the portal requesting the information be changed. Called the practice to see if I can switch to an African American/Black provider (which is my prerogative), not sure if I’m reading into it but the person who answered the phone almost sounded offended… maybe I might be mistaken, but ok….She mentioned with it being a group practice there’s no guarantee I will see 1 provider (which is understandable). I still requested the specific provider as first preference. She then proceeded to explain that at this time I couldn’t switch providers because they had to see if I would be going back to a regular provider after my high risk consult. This was news to me because the convo with Dr. Marks made it seem like the visits with her and the high risk provider would alternate as needed, so unless Dr. Marks is mistaken, switching shouldn’t be a problem (this was 1 of the reasons I thought maybe the person was offended)… Secondly, I asked about a general turn around time for the practice to respond to me regarding the inconsistencies in my chart, the person stated they don’t have a time frame. I know practices are overworked, understaffed and underpaid, and this is not an emergency so I didn’t expect a message today, but there is usually a time frame to respond to patients. It seems weird to not have a general time frame but that’s fine…. I’m willing to give the practice another chance but so far I’m kind of disappointed because my initial reaction was positive. During this call I had to reschedule my high risk appt to a different time because I was booked in a “15 min slot, when it should have been a 45 min slot” (paraphrased)… my first appt was also changed to have me come in 30 mins earlier, which, ok it happens, I was amenable to, but then I got caught in traffic with 2 accidents and ended up being late for my first appt (which by the way wouldn’t have happened had the time not been changed but I digress)…. I called 30 mins before the appt as a courtesy to explain the situation (the call was received well) but then it’s noted in my chart I was 30 mins late.. it wasn’t quite 30 mins but whatever, I was still seen, I can appreciate that. The doctor also proceeded to document that I was having indigestion because “I eat a lot of bread and carbs and fried food”…. The words fried food never even entered our conversation and the other info was also misconstrued, in fact I stated I cut back on carb intake hoping it would help with indigestion and I’m avoiding foods that can cause heartburn. There are so many little things that are wrong that can contribute to a bigger issue, and can increase my stress if I let it … when I should definitely be stress free during this time. Some other small things I’m not gonna mention to maintain my privacy, but I can see why the practice did not get great reviews. Here’s to hoping that the next interaction is better but grateful for the choice to switch providers and practices if...
Read moreHorrible experience again and again. I transferred to this office in the beginning of my pregnancy and I had a lot of hope considering it was UMMC. However, I have been disappointed more and more as time goes on. Your blood pressure shouldn't be higher when you leave the office than it was when you arrived. From the disorganization of the front desk, to the nurses never returning your phone call or messages through the portal as they promise they would, to the inconsistency of seeing different providers who all have their own opinions on what testing you should and shouldn't have, to being lectured and felt like I am pushed into things I do not want, to the lack of communication overall and just feeling like they don't care about their patients and rather just the money they are making off your appointment and unnecessary testing. Just overall horrible experience. When one is pregnant it should be a joyous time, a time to cherish and take in the happiness of pregnancy, not a omg lets get this over with because the doctors make my life so stressful I just don't want to think about coming back here next month, week, whatever. I can't imagine what the delivery experience would be like if this is the type of care I am receiving now...
Read more0 stars. I came here in July and saw Dr. Peterson for my painful fibroids and wanted to see if I can schedule surgery. She gave me the runaround and refused to perform a Pap smear after I got upset. I’ve been dealing with this for five years with no results. I was told by someone up front that I didn’t have to pay anything after I refuse to pay for the horrible service. Now it’s September and I just received a bill! Why am I paying for a service that wasn’t performed? I’m still in pain but the pain is extremely horrible now and I’ve tried contacting them back to please do something about it. I wasn’t prescribed any pain meds or nothing but yet have to shell out money. When I called about having to pay, I’ve received attitude after attitude with everyone I’ve spoken with. I could have cancer but I’ll never know because these idiots won’t do their job. Terrible service. Please go somewhere else if you care about your health because...
