Update: What a joke Yuan Spa is for trying to save face by responding to my fiancé’s previous review, noting “we love feedback” and mentioning that their refund efforts will go towards customers that would like to see them succeed. Prior to this exchange, we communicated that we wanted nothing more but to see this business succeed, and we respectfully inquired over the phone if we could please move our reservation to another date. We pleaded and explained that this reservation was for our anniversary, and we wouldn’t have been able to make it at the scheduled time (incorrectly scheduled by Yuan Spa, just to be clear). This business will try and seem respectful in the eye of the public, but once you try to communicate personally and privately, they are rude and condescending. Here’s some constructive feedback: Understand that loyalty from customers is extremely important for successful businesses. Here’s some easy math- if the two of us enjoyed our $150/person facials, we would’ve recommended our 4 other friends to try it out. That’s another $600 for you. They would’ve told their friends/family, giving you another ~$2000. But no, you decided to scam us of $150, and you’ll be losing the business of us and our friends/families. Consider word of mouth when it comes to marketing for your business, because it’s important for the success of businesses.
Original review:
Yuan Spa clearly does not care about customer service and cares more about getting as much money as they can from their customers.
My fiancé booked a couples facial for our anniversary, but they booked us for the wrong date. We booked over the phone (since you can't book online) and asked for a Saturday, but they booked us for Friday. When Friday rolled around, they gave us a call and said we'd be charged 50% due to no show. We asked them if there was any way we could reschedule to another day, as we had work on Friday and weren't able to make it (we work a very standard 9-5 Monday through Friday job.. so there's absolutely no way we would've booked it). The woman on the phone was extremely cold and rude and had no sympathy whatsoever. I'd understand if we had made the mistake of booking the wrong date, but it was Yuan Spa that booked us the incorrect date in the first place. So how does it make sense that we'd have to pay for their mistake?
I had been telling my fiancé for months how I wanted to find a spa to get ongoing facials from, and with the positive reviews from Yuan Spa, I really thought this could be the one.
Overall, very poor customer service and lack of care. Please beware when booking...
Read moreI received a gift card to Yuan from my work to go enjoy some much needed rest & relaxation. The woman that checked me in was courteous but cold. My tour to the woman’s locker room felt very clinical. I was not offered any water or tea. I met my therapist outside of the locker room and she quickly said her name and then turned to walk towards our room. When I entered the room a wave of cool air hit me. I honestly thought for a second, oh maybe the cool temp is part of the therapy? After getting undressed and on the table, I was covered in goosebumps and close to shivering. My stressed muscles were now clenched in reaction to the cold. I ask my therapist if there was a way to warm up the room. She said she’d got it as warm as she could and that the table heater was on. She offered two heat packs which she placed on my back. This helped, but my limbs were still really cold. During the scrub session, she left her oil and the scrub on the counter, so every time she needed to get more - she would have to break away and walk back to the counter for it. This was jarring and also added to being cold while my exposed body would lay uncovered waiting for her to come back and apply product. Instead of getting to relax, I laid there fighting the urge to shiver. She gave me a scalp massage while I was wrapped, and her fingers were like icicles. The best part of the service was getting to jump into a hot shower towards the end. But that was quickly ruined because once I got out, the cold room felt even worse and I actually did start physically shivering. She stopped and said, “let me see if I can get the heater in here working.” Sooo, wth?! The heat in the room wasn’t even on?!!! She spent a good five minutes flipping switches on the space heater and finally said, “ok it says it’s on.” The last ten minutes of her applying cold moisturizer to my body were the worst. I was visibly shivering and covered in goosebumps. I almost just told her to stop. When asked how my service was while checking out, I shared my feedback about the cold room. The same woman (that checked me in) said she was sorry and gave me two passes. While I appreciated the gesture, it in no way makes up for taking a day off work to go get pampered only to leave feeling more stressed than when I arrived. I expect more from a $140, 60 minute service. I’ve honestly had better experiences at Massage Envy than this place....
Read moreMy wife and I purchased a large package of treatments from Yuan Spa to celebrate our anniversary with a full, couples spa day. We had a very mixed experience and can only recommend Yuan Spa if you carefully select treatments and research each therapist beforehand. More detailed feedback below.
We found the quality of the therapists to vary widely. We purchased eight treatments from four therapists. Two were great; one was fine; one we would not recommend. Unfortunately, my wife received a massage that left her in immense pain and overshadowed the rest of our experience.
The hydrotherapy experience temperatures were very mellow. This is not necessarily a negative, but we found the sauna to be lukewarm; the hot tub lukewarm; the cold plunge pool only slightly chilly; and the steam room lukewarm as well. If you're not a fan of temperature changes this could be good, but you may be disappointed if you're expecting a more intense experience.
Be very careful choosing add-on packages. We chose the cupping add-on for our massage and deeply regret it. I'm not sure if our therapists were unfamiliar with cupping, but they used extreme pressures that were intensely painful and left severe bruising. My wife and I have experienced traditional fire cupping and the suction cups used at Yuan Spa were orders of magnitude more intense. Perhaps that is what some folks are looking for, but we would recommend asking lots of clarifying questions as our unresearched package/add-on selections ended very badly.
The facilities were nice and not too crowded. The Spa's no cell phone policy; mellow lighting; and soothing music created a relaxing environment. The Spa's finishings were of high quality and the day we went there were only a few other guests.
We found the check-in and check-out processes to be quite slow. Our check-in took about 15 minutes and our check-out took about 30 minutes. This is a minor point, but be sure to leave significant time before and after or it will cut into your treatment time.
If you're booking multiple treatments expect to pay for parking. The free parking nearby only lasts three hours, the street parking is capped at two hours, and we could not find...
