My overall experience here was wonderful! The fish was fresh and tasted pure, the rice was near perfection, and even the Miso Soup was top notch. We tried the Daikon Miso Soup, The daikon added lots of unique flavor and was a pleasurable texture.
The service here was wonderful. Adi, our server was very respectful and cheerful, he seemed very happy to take care of us. I made notes of some allergies in the reservation and he did a pretty good job letting us know upfront what we should avoid. However at the end of the night he seemed to forget about some of them as I asked about the desserts however I always forgive somethings when there is a small language barrier. Other people may be less patient than I...
We tried a variety of Rolls that were all well balanced and well portioned. I really enjoyed being able to taste all of the ingredients unlike cheap sushi where you are just eating a mushy roll that all tastes the same and has the same texture. The sauces were rich and added tremendous amounts of flavor, perhaps even to a point of it being overpowering but don't let that scare you away from enjoying the rich complex flavors.
As always when I try a new sushi restaurant I get the sushi combo. Which usually comes with about 8 pieces of sushi and a roll. To start, the fish had obviously been prepared with love. The flavors were deep and pure. Each fish tasted like it should and had phenomenal texture. I found myself discovering some new flavors that I'm not used to with cheaper sushi. The rice was at a great temperature that made it moist, flavorful, and just the right amount of sticky. It was cooked to a perfect tenderness that brought out the wonderful flavors of the fish.
The decor was lovely. I would certainly say you are paying a bit more for the atmosphere, which for me a special occasion always deserves paying for nice decor. I would describe it as a modern Japanese look that fits Bellevue perfectly. The multilevel design gives the tables a nice private feel and the bar is creatively lit to accent the texture and color on the walls.
The only thing I would change at FLO is perhaps some dessert options for people with gluten and dairy allergies or sensitivities. Also educate all the staff on food allergies to ensure everyone attending FLO can feel safe eating what they order.
I would definitely recommend FLO to any sushi lover and anyone looking to go out for a nice dinner.
A little bit about me... I work at Willow's Lodge as a concierge and bellman and I will always remember to send my guests towards FLO for a reasonably close, high end...
Read moreFood wasn't bad - but service was awful! This was my first time going to Flo, and I have been to more than a fair share of sushi places. The sushi was amazing - and presented very well. When it came to the service, it was awful and the worst that I had in a very long time. We were with a party of 8, and had two seperate servers for each side of the table. The woman that was in charge of getting our drinks took over 20 minutes to get us water... we all ordered a Sake Martini, as well - which took an additional 15 minutes. When we ordered our food(appetizers, soups, salads, sushi and meals), everything came out at seperate times for each of us. Normally, everyone should get their appetizers at the same time. The people in our party that ordered soup, didn't even get spoons, and by the time we flagged down our server to get one, their soup had gotten cold. Salads were served without forks... We were there for an hour before we got our sushi appetizers which were then served at the same time as our entrees. The server was rude, and seemed like she didn't care about taking care of us. When we finally got our bills(which was the only thing they did in a timely manner), we realized why they didn't care about the quality of service they were offering because we were charged a 20% gratuity, that we were not told about. I normally don't care about paying grat, but with how awful the service was, they didn't deserve a $26 tip on my $134 bill. I will not go back to this place, unless it's for carry out. I would not recommend this place to parties...
Read moreWe booked a table at THEKOI Sushi & Sake four days in advance for our anniversary. When we arrived, there was no table ready and we had to wait about 10 minutes - not a big deal. Unfortunately, the rest of the evening only went downhill. Service was painfully slow. It took nearly an hour just to get our starters, and after another hour we were told our main course (a sushi assortment) still wasn’t ready. The waiter brought us edamame “on the house” and promised 10 more minutes, but 45 minutes later nothing had arrived. At that point, we asked for the check and decided to leave hungry - never receiving our meal.
Even after we asked for the check, someone came to our table to ask what we had ordered. They charged us based only on what we told them we had ordered, and we paid just to get out of there.
To make matters worse, right at the entrance there’s a table set aside just for delivery drivers (see the picture), which makes it obvious where the restaurant’s priorities are - delivery apps over actual diners.
This was actually our second time trying THEKOI. The first visit wasn’t memorable, but we wanted to give them another chance. Sadly, this was an even bigger disappointment, especially on a special occasion. From what we experienced, the restaurant seems to prioritize delivery orders over guests dining in. Definitely not a place I’d recommend for an anniversary or any event where service and...
