Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street Cooking School is a large, positive part of my life, as over the past two years I have participated in over 200 of their livestream cooking classes and completed over half of their online, self-paced, pre-recorded cooking courses. Thanks to Milk Street, I now feel much more knowledgeable, comfortable, and creative in the kitchen! Milk Street’s virtual classes have exposed me to use a wide variety of cooking techniques, tools, vocabulary, tips, strategies, templates, and recipes. The Milk Street livestream cooking instructors (Rosie, April, and Matt) are truly inspirational, the moderator (Karsyn) helps us use the chat to get our questions answered during class, and the instructors of the pre-recorded courses are extremely knowledgeable. I love when Milk Street has guest chefs that share their recipes from around the world, so I become exposed to various cuisines, get a chance to research and purchase “new-to-me” ingredients, and try my hand at new dishes. Here are photos showing dishes I made after watching two of Milk Street’s virtual cooking classes. . . Baklava and a Sichuan Dinner (Mapo Tofu, Kung Pao Chicken, and Sichuan Cucumber Salad). Be sure to take some Milk Street Cooking classes. They will transform the...
Read moreI have never been to this physical location, but I love their magazine and the live-stream cooking classes they offer are such fun and are some of what have gotten me through the pandemic still liking to cook (I love to cook, but having to do it three meals a day for two years was a lot, you know??). The variety of skills and approaches in the cooking classes is just great - with multiple offerings each week and focus on a wide variety of cultures, I think there is probably something for everyone. I know I've tried a number of things I never thought I would - and even some things I'd never heard of - emulsifying sausage anyone? (hint - it's what gives hot dogs the texture we associate with them) or pestos without basil? Plus I've honed basic skills - knife sharpening, making eggs. The classes are friendly and fun and affordable - especially if you subscribe to the magazine at the "all-access" level, which gives you access to the classes at no charge. My all-access subscription more than paid for itself with the first three classes I took, and by now I've probably taken at least a couple dozen. Tonight I'll be learning to make...
Read moreBuyer beware. Stole my money after several attempts at communicating with customer service over a period of 4 weeks. I mistakenly signed up for both a 7 day free trial and the $1 for 12 week insider deal. The same day, I emailed customer service to help fix my account so I would not be charged in full after my 7 day free trial was up. It took days for Angeline to respond and assured me that there was not a problem on my account. Several days later I am charged both $1 (from what I intentionally signed up for) and $29.99. After 2 weeks of emails AND phone calls with conflicting answers, they wanted to refund me only $27.60 because I had already had my account for 30 days (which is not true). The audacity of this company blows my mind. I had emailed them from day 1 trying to resolve the problem, and they refused!! Now they "don't have the $1 charge on their record" and want me to mail them my billing statement with the charge on there as proof. Awful, awful, disgraceful company. If I can keep 1 person away from this company, this review will have been worth my time. Edit:...
