Tradesman Coffee Shop and Lounge provided us with a memorable experience that left us with mixed feelings, but ultimately positive impressions. Our order consisted of two mochas, and while the coffee was of good quality, we found it to be a little on the sweeter side for our personal preferences. However, the overall taste was still enjoyable, and it is worth noting that sweetness can vary from person to person.
Moving on to the pastry selection, we decided to try the red velvet croissant and the Boston cream pie croissant. Both pastries exceeded our expectations in terms of taste and flavor. The red velvet croissant had a delectable combination of rich cocoa and cream cheese filling, providing a unique twist to the traditional croissant. As for the Boston cream pie croissant, its luscious custard filling and smooth chocolate glaze created a delightful balance of sweetness. The only drawback was their size; they were so generously proportioned that we struggled to finish them. It would be great if they offered smaller portions to cater to those with lighter appetites.
Aside from the food and beverages, the ambiance at Tradesman was cozy and inviting. The shop had a pleasant aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and the lounge area provided a comfortable space for patrons to relax or work. The staff members were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience.
While our mochas leaned towards the sweeter side and the croissants were larger than expected, our visit to Tradesman Coffee Shop and Lounge was still a delightful one. The quality of the coffee and the scrumptiousness of the pastries overshadowed these minor concerns. We appreciate the attention to detail in creating unique flavors and commend the friendly staff for their excellent service. Should you find yourself in need of a cozy coffee spot, Tradesman is...
Read moreWhenever my husband and I travel with our family, we love scoping out new coffee shops to try. Tradesman just so happened to be connected to The Dagny Hotel in Boston where we stayed. The second morning of our stay, we checked it out. After that, we never visited another shop! What a gem! This coffee shop tells a story. Right when you think you’ve seen all the treasures, you spot another. It is loaded in nostalgic pieces. Old typewriters, microscopes, trunks, tea kettles, a beautiful chandelier, a gorgeous cash register, trinkets, the list goes on. Spacious seating, including tables, booths, high top, bar, and plenty of window seating with power strips underneath the tables. There are several tables and chairs outside as well. Very clean restrooms. Ok now let’s talk food and coffee. I tried the ham and cheese on a pretzel bun. They will warm it. So good that I ate it three days in a row! My husband loved the avocado toast. The most delicious cinnamon twists (they don’t always have those but what a treat)! Beautiful croissants that I always saw people ordering, and that I plan to try before we leave. Fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juices, salads, overnight oats, my goodness the list goes on!!! As for the coffee, it was always fresh and hot! I never tried anything but a medium roast drip but the varieties looked amazing! I’m so glad our place was connected to this place. It’s open to the public not staying at The Dagny as well. This place is what I looked forward to every morning! It was always hopping!! Friendly staff. Fast service. This was our #1 (well only one once we discovered it) place for a quick grab and go (or stay) kind of breakfast. There’s a reason the outdoor banner says Boston’s #1 coffee! Definitely...
Read moreThe Tradesman is a beautiful place. The decor alone makes it worth the trip. The food here is fantastic and bursting with flavor. There is literally nothing else like it in the area. On my first visit I had a ham a cheese croissant that was flaky and dripping with butter with a latte that was one of the best I have ever had.
There are however a few things that need to be fixed. The Tradesman has been open for a few weeks now an they don't have website so checking them out ahead of time was difficult. They're also lacking on social media. They do have a page but not a lot of information. I did reach out to them through the page but did not get a reply. Oh and those photos of all the tasty croissants you see, aren't available in the morning. From what I hear you'll need to comeback later for those.
As others have said the credit card defaults to a one, three, or five dollar tip. You have to manually scroll to "other" to do anything else. Considering you pay upfront before sampling any of their services this seems a little awkward. The card machine is also painfully slow but not as slow as the one barista they have on duty. Look we get it. The Tradesman is about artful food and atmosphere but this is Boston. Hire another person or pick up the pace.
Cost is a little higher than most for coffee but close to what you'd expect in the area, unless you're a Dunkin customer who can just go next door (Literally).
In the end, even with all its faults its the Tradesman's quality food and enticing atmosphere that will make me a regular customer. Lets hope they fix these...
