First time going with my family and so impressed with the friendly staff, prices (our entire family of 5 for $7) and it's clean! We went New Year's Day and it was not to busy at all! We were bummed that our pretty tall almost 7 year old was only half an inch to short to go down the big slide but we were informed kindly by the lifeguard on duty. We forgot to bring towls but did rent some nice sized soft clean ones for .50cents each. I will most definitely come again! Great atmosphere, clean & friendly staff!

This is the best city rec center/gym that I've ever seen in a small town. For a place with just over 1,000 residents, it's pretty amazing that Deadwood has a place with a weight lifting gym, cardio room, basketball court, swimming pool, running track, handball courts, and classrooms - all indoors. People use it to work out, kids use it for a place to hang out, and school sports teams use it as a place for meets and tournaments. But most of the time - especially weekday evenings - it doesn't feel crowded in the least. The facility itself is pretty impressive, with parts housed in the 1912 stone-block civic auditorium, and the rest (mostly the pool and track) in a new annex built in 2008. Despite the age of the building, the place feels new and vibrant and bright. I run here about three times a week in the winter, and go to a yoga class once a week. Hard to imagine a better place in a town this size. Staff are friendly and seem to be well-trained. One of the standout features: it's incredibly inexpensive. Day passes for visitors are just a few bucks, and monthly memberships are...

Out of all the recreational centers in the Northern Hills and Rapid City, this one closes the earliest every day of the week. Out of all the recreational centers with a pool for families in the area, this one closes the earliest every day of the week, and is not open on Sunday for any amount of time. This is especially hard on families during the winter months when there is little to do outside. For those who are not the “butt-crack of dawn” type of people, business hours are absolutely horrible. If you work until 5pm, have a night schedule, or do your work out in the evening... forget about it. They also cater more to adults. According to one employees comment, the insurance doesn’t allow kids to do much besides play basketball, run on the track, and swim (in a pool with a cold temperature suited for adults swimming laps, not young kids or families using it for play or for the water slide). If you’re looking for a place oriented towards families with busy schedules,...

Went in the other day my mom and dad have been members my dad needed to renew and I was interested in buying a membership the gal who let us in was extremely nice and welcoming but then an older shorter gentleman came up told me absolutely no outsiders I said I simply wanted to see the gym and wanted to purchase a membership he was as rude as could be so not only did I not buy a membership but my dad didn’t renew either we drove to spearfish and bought memberships there both of us and we both live 5 minutes from the deadwood rec center but we’ll never go back. Customer curiosity and respect for human beings yes there’s covid but are you running a business or trying to insult people I just wanted to see the facility and would’ve bought a...
