1899 BB with 21st century top service! Nyla knows how to make guests happy! The house and furnishings were outstanding. The outdoor porch reminded me of calmer more relaxing times. All of the artifacts, books, dishes, windows, furniture, art, and accoutrements were totally amazing. The breakfast was a wonderful egg casserole with fruit and homemade bread. Coffee was delicious, a wine bar is available in the evenings, along with tea, coffee, water for the guests. A nice walk to downtown. Got a great recommendation from Nyla for dinner-Nyla is a total supporter of Deadwood community, commerce and hospitality, with great knowledge of all aspects of the town. You won’t be disappointed by a stay in any of the rooms. Our master bedroom was very well appointed, and we couldn’t have been more comfortable even on a hot summer day! Easy to find. Parking is off street only, with assigned spots to accommodate your vehicle size. I would have to say this is our best stay over spot in South Dakota ever and we’ve stayed at dozens of places Don’t miss it if you have the opportunity to stay overnight in Deadwood.

A short walk (9-minutes) from the hustle and bustle of downtown Deadwood, the 1899 Inn provides guests a quiet and comfortable respite. The front and side porches offer shade and a breeze for early morning coffee or a late afternoon sit. The inn keepers, Tom & Nyla Griffith, provide a warm welcome and will share a wealth if knowledge about the town and surrounding area for day trip destinations. Nyla cooks a delicious breakfast for guests every morning and it is a treat to sit at a table set with fine china. We stayed four nights in the Attic Room with its soaking tub and awesome travertine and ceramic subway tile walk-in shower set under the peak of a gable. Believe me, if you explore the countryside and canyons, you will welcome a bathe before bed. This room at the top of three floors is a private getaway. Our was cleaned it daily and fresh towels supplied, which is something lacking in most four star hotels these days. We will stay here again when we return to visit this region of South Dakota; a glorious land.

My daughter and I did a road trip and stayed at the 1899 Inn while in Deadwood. We stayed in the Master as it had an adjoining room with a daybed. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. We stayed in 6 hotels on our trip and my finicky teenage daughter said that the 1899 Inn was the best sleep she got the entire trip, and I agree. From the moment we arrived Nyla was kind, friendly, and hospitable. She asked about our itinerary and we told her that the next day we were going to Mount Rushmore. It turns out her husband, Tom, is a leading expert (if not THE leading expert) on the monument. He joined us for breakfast the next morning (which was delicious) and regaled us with stories and first hand accounts which added a whole new layer to our experience! I cannot oversell the 1899 Inn enough. From the accommodations to the owners and everything in-between, world class!

The historic house is magnificently articulated with beautiful decor, vintage appeal and modern amenities. This was my first time in a B&B. It's a different experience than a hotel as there is a communal element; a shared bathroom with other rooms and a common area on the main floor. We got in and up a bit late so we didn't interact with many other guests. Our host, Laura and her family were incredibly hospitable and accommodating. The late arrival was no problem. We met the house cat outside down the street who led us to and in the house, quietly accompanying our exploration which began once we entered with one of the most amazing chocolate chip cookies ever to have entered my mouth. Perfect balance between salt and sweet with a wonderfully soft texture and slight crunch on the outside. Upon waking, a shower, cup of coffee and a quick perusing of current events ended with some pleasant conversation and a fantastic home cooked meal consisting of a fluffy, rich scallion frittata, home made sourdough bread, real butter, and some fresh fruit on the side. We only stayed for one night, but given the chance to spend more time, I would not think twice. The hospitality and environment made this quick Deadwood visit nourishing and left a lasting...

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the 1899 House Bed and Breakfast in Deadwood, SD, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we arrived, the innkeepers made us feel right at home with their warm hospitality and attentiveness. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable, providing helpful local tips and accommodating all our needs with a genuine smile.

The house itself is a gem, steeped in history and beautifully preserved. The antique furnishings and decor transport you back in time, creating a charming and cozy atmosphere. Each room is meticulously decorated, showcasing stunning pieces that reflect the elegance of a bygone era.

Every morning,we were treated to a delicious breakfast that was clearly prepared with love and care. The communal dining experience also allowed for delightful conversations with fellow guests, adding to the overall charm of the stay.

The 1899 House Bed and Breakfast is truly a special place. Whether you're a history buff, an antique lover, or simply looking for a warm and welcoming place to stay in Deadwood, this bed and breakfast is the perfect choice. I can't recommend it highly enough and look forward to...
