The steak was as tough as the heel of a boot and very very thin, and way over cooked, could barely cut it with a sharp knife. The waiter charged us for a drink that we didn't get. He kept forgetting food items over and over. Kept reminding him about his forgetfulness and he stated you can't find good help these days, talking about himself, which he was right on about that. The waiter didn't like the $8 tip in cash we left because he didn't see anything on the credit card, and he actually followed us outside to complain about the tip saying we stiffed him. This guy Craig was a syco ranting and complaining that we should of left more. He says he guarantee's that if you ever come back he will make sure that you never get a table, you will wait forever, he will make sure of that. He states that he only makes $5 an hour. He would only follow us out because my husband wasn't there because he was inside gambling like he usually does and as usual lost again that night about $300. This waiter was only brave without a man outside. We have never ever seen anything like this guy. We find out that the restaurant is under a different ownership than the casino because we have been coming to this restaurant for at least 10 years without any issues like this guy. Now we will never go back to a place that hires this type of waiter. We called the restaurant that night and several times over several days but no response from anyone from the Maverick restaurant side. I guess they condone this type of behavior from there employee's now. A manager was outside from the gambling side of the establishment and after this guy went back inside he apologized for this disgraceful guy. He stated that we don't have anything to do the the restaurant side but I still have to apologize for that fool he told me, and look he said there is hardly any people on the street here and he should be glad of the people that...
Read morePerched above the gaming, it's very casual but not noisy. We went here because I wanted to try the ribs. They were excellent and fall off the bone. Also reasonably priced (we are used to east coast prices, so it's all relative). Otherwise, food was good but not incredible. Drinks were strong. Server was lovely and super friendly. The one thing that was a bit suspect was the seating policy/practice. We got there and were told 45 min wait. We saw some empty tables but assumed they were for parties who had not yet shown after being notified. We were to get a text when it was ready. 50ish mins later and no text we went back to check if it was ready in case spotty service was to blame. We told the hostess our name and she looks at her computer and immediately says "Yes! great, come with me!" and seated us. We saw at least 5 empty tables after being seated. We assumed she had texted and we just didn't get the message. 30 mins later, and eating, we get a text for our table being ready. (that's 1hr 20 instead of 45 mins, if you're counting) So, if our table wasn't really ready, why seat us? If it was ready, why would we get a text so much later? In the time we ate, we watched the hostess turn everyone away who came to her station and give them all times from 45 to an hour and 15min wait. There were no less than 5 empty tables we could see the whole time we were there. and only 2 or 3 more parties were seated. There just seemed to no reason that anyone had to wait 45+ mins for a table other than it a ploy to get you to go gamble for an hour while you wait. Overall decent spot to eat. Amazing ribs, and...
Read moreOur waitress was excellent, but unfortunately, the quality of the meal was deeply disappointing. First and foremost, I found a beetle in my salad. When I alerted our waitress, rather than making any effort to make things right, our meal was not compensated at all, despite the bill soaring over $100. We only left a tip because our server was nice, not because of the service or quality.
Additionally, I have diagnosed celiac disease and made this abundantly clear the moment we were seated. We were told the General Manager also has celiac disease, and I was explicitly told they would be cautious about cross-contamination. Yet, the first salad I received contained croutons, which was sent back. Then, to add insult to injury, the second salad I received was infested with a bug, as clearly shown in my review. This is utterly unacceptable.
When my salmon (labelled gluten-free on the menu) was served, a glaze was brought out and we were told, "We don’t know if this has gluten, so we put it on the side." If there’s even a hint of doubt about a product’s gluten content, it should NOT be added to a dish for someone with celiac disease. That’s basic for any responsible restaurant.
Overall, I felt uneasy and completely let down by this experience. The level of negligence and disregard is staggering. Sadly, we will not be returning. I was genuinely excited to dine here, especially since it seemed among the very few options with gluten-free choices in Deadwood. The hour and a half wait just to get a table was frustrating and added to the overall...
