The food is served on paper plates, dispossble cups for coffee and tea. I dont like to eat off paper plates ever and this was a first in a restaurant. I was surprised but not a breaker IF this is done to reduce COVID infection risk however since we and everyone else digs our own utensils out of a bucket and serve our own drinks from a fountain machine, I doubt this is the case. As for the food, I wish I could find something positive to say besides I'm positive it was awful. Everything was cold and not just a little cold either. The seating area we were in would catch the draft from the entry door but it had not opened between our food being served and our 1st bite (seconds after we got our plates) so thats not why the food was cold. It had to have been sitting a while. The bacon only taste was salt and too overwhelming to eat. There was a grease/oil substance on all of the food (eggs. Hashbrowns, toast) as well. I can't describe the taste, it was bland and odd; not really a flavor at all and it was slippery and gross as it stuck to our tongues. The potatoes and eggs were bland and greasy because of it. The toast was cooked on the same oily grill which resulted in a bland and oily toast that had a tough and chewy consistency. Needless to say we took a few bites but could not stomach eating it. Our appetites were ruined and since several people sitting around us were eating the same breakfasts had food that looked the same as ours we decided against having them replace our plates with fresh hot food we'd likely not eat. We paid for it anyway and went on our way. If they used a better butter/oil product and significantly cut down on how much they used we'd probably give them another try when we are in the area again but cooked as it is now. we do not intend to return. Every experience is different, factors such as short staffing (not sure if this was the case), time of year (May), or a new cook (again, no idea) are all possible reasons for our experience so be warned, know what to possibly expect but decide for yourself and share how it went. I'm curious to know if we just went on an off day or if this is the norm.

Passing through Deadwood, we wanted to grab some breakfast. Having parked near the main drag, we found Lee St. Station and saw that they had outdoor seating. It was a beautiful day out (though a gust of breeze blew one of the other tables’ umbrella into the street!), so the fresh air was inviting. Our waitress was super friendly and nice to our girls (7 and 10). The food was delicious and there was plenty. The coffee was self-serve. It was around 10 am, so the outdoor makers were out, so we had to go inside to keep filling up - not a big deal, but just different enough to note. My country fried steak breakfast was really good. The kids loved their standards - big pancakes, scrambled eggs, and incredibly good sausage. The 7 y/I was really impressed with the perfectly-buttered toast. Either she is easy to impress or they really did it right! (Trust me - she is NOT easy to impress!) On a week-plus long road trip with lots of stops and meals at various places, this was one of my faves. Beautiful day, friendly service, yummy breakfast food. Was really excited to come across this place. They have a framed certificate from trip advisor with a 4+ star review so thought we'd found a winner when we were just out looking for a quick brunch. When we got there, the lady that seated us told us our server was busy with a table of 17 so she would take our order herself and then left. A minute or so after, a different lady came and took our order. She didn't seem very friendly and looked the other direction the whole time she took our order. We ordered simple breakfast dishes and a glass of milk. We waited quite a long time and even took into consideration the table of 17. However, the whole time, no one had checked on us or even brought our glass of milk. We saw multiple waitresses pass us, one of which was obviously waiting the large table. I watched our waitress interact with other tables though, which included what I can only assume to be regulars by the amount of joking around was going on. Eventually another family came by and the lady that seated us placed them at the table beside us. She then told my brother that people would be sitting behind him suggesting he needs to push in his chair. After she still didn't ask how we were doing, bringing some milk or even some water, we decided 40+ minutes was too long to wait for 2 eggs and toast. My brother put some change on the table for whoever had to clean off our coffee cups and we left. This was around 11am on Friday. It was fairly busy but there were enough tables in their little dining foyer for the amount of people there plus some. We didn't try the food but we will definitely not be going there again. Beware the misleading TripAdvisor...

12-31-20 Review during Covid (Only mentioning this because they had a sign up, let me explain)

This review is being posted at 5 stars because I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here.

The service was not great, but let me explain.

You walk in and wait to be seated. There was a sign about being short staffed due to covid and to excuse the wait time.

They were not busy at the time. 3-4 people seated at the time while we waited.

It didn't take long to get seated or to get our order taken so A+ there! Server was good enough.

However, 45 minutes to receive the food was a bit... disappointing haha.

Maybe they only had 1 cook on hand. Maybe they only had the 1 server on hand. Maybe the Server was both the server and the cook? Who knows? Maybe news years eve day?

Food - We each ordered a sandwich. A sandwich... 45 minutes for a sandwich XD - I had to go out and put more money into the parking meter (parked with an hour on the clock)

The food was great when we received it! The server never came to ask how we were liking the food or anything.

Drinks are all self-serve.

When we come back for vacation again in 6 ish months (hopefully) I will give them another try and update the review at that point.

Food was great / Service was meh and Time to get the food into my mouth hole was...
