Live At Jacks Entertainment — Local services in Denver

Went their NYE for appetizers and drinks (the groupon deal). The place was empty, they had no live music because they were having a "Dance Party" at 9... This is a Jazz club, find your target audience and stick with it. No live music even though the website said that their house band was playing. Whatever, I can live with that. The place looks like 1990 collided with a discotheque. The music they had pumping out of wall speakers was bad fusion jazz. Ambiance was subpar to say the least. Then we ordered our wine and appetizers, which looking at regular menu prices was shocking. Very expensive bad bar food. We got the fish and chips and the hummus and chips. The Fish was fine, but the fries were overcooked and tasted old (maybe they double fried them to warm them back up?) The pita and chips was honestly something I could have made myself. Opening a bad of pita chips, and scooping humus into a plastic bowl. Everything about this place just screamed, "I don't care." For all that this place could be, it doesn't live up to expectations. Won't be going back, and frankly, don't see this place surviving. Oh and one more thing. Always an AWESOME time at Jacks! Especially when Dotsero plays. There’s a cover depending on what day you go (I’ve only ever been on saturdays when there is a cover) but it’s SO worth it. Great jazz music with a performance-style band. Also, their drinks and menu are decently priced. I don’t leave there feeling like I paid an arm & a leg for their food/beverages. Chairs/seating is set up like a comedy club in which they all face the stage. But if you’re there for the music then it’s perfect! If you’re there to chat, then there’s a front room with a bar where you can hear the music...

Small and overwhelmingly over crowded. Not comfortable for my husband and I. We went out for his birthday. This was our first time here. We are grown. We will not be returning. Over priced drinks and cover for short show we watched people act out by leaving their coats to hold chairs they would come back to claim a couple times through out the night while others stood uncomfortably.
