I read many reviews before my visit. I often read the bad reviews as well to really get a sense of the overall quality. 1 reviewer stated a couple weeks ago they felt it was a disappointment. That there wasn't much to see.
Here's what I realized after my visit. It's not entirely as museum per say. Yes, there are many beautiful sentiments and photos of accomplishments women who are black have made. I'd throw in a few more, like Mary Ellen Pleasant(most powerful woman in San Francisco during Klondike era), and Anna Mangin (invented the spatula), etc overall it is truly beautiful. The exhibits vary as time goes on, and I hope more artists could be exhibited at once. But, but.. that is not entirely the point to this palace. This space is a social gathering of love and honor. I walked in as the annual "Spin-Off" was about to start. I was welcomed all the same even though I only had a ticket for general admission. I sadly didn't get to stay for the food ( which I understood to be fantastic). I spoke with the daughter of a women who was receiving an award and being honored that night and I could feel the love as I left streaming through the door as beautiful women in sequined ball gowns entered!
This palace is more than a simple museum, it is a place where women, men, and all people who are black can be honored for their continuous contributions they offer society through living the best lives anyone can.
I will be here myself some day throwing an event that will honor the lives of my friends!
Cheers! A must...
Read moreWhen my best friend, Victoria, was planning her trip to Denver, visiting this exhibit was so important to her that we made sure our entire itinerary was built around the opportunity to see it. It was truly a privilege to experience the space and its art, and even more so to be able to capture Victoria’s experience through my lens. As a photographer, I was inspired by the power and beauty of the exhibit’s art and artists, but the true gravity of the moment was in getting to document the importance of this space for Victoria, and for other Black women and girls. It was a beautiful reminder of the profound impact of seeing yourself and your experiences centered and celebrated. This incredible space is a constantly evolving love letter to Black women and girls. We especially loved the variety of events they offer, all of which are clearly designed to spread joy and build community. To everyone in the Denver area, I highly encourage you to experience this space for yourselves. Also, The Museum for Black Girls is currently accepting applications for artists, interns, and volunteers for their Fall exhibit. If you are a Black woman or girl who is passionate about art and community, I would encourage you to apply! Thank you again to The Museum for Black Girls for creating this necessary and magical space. And thank you to the artists whose work...

They were not able to refund me at that time , I was 100% OK with this and I ended up losing the dispute with my card company. as of April 5 of 2024 I have been reaching out via email , and I have not received not one response nor a refund for tickets that I was allowed to purchase for a Sunday , even with them, knowing that they were closing the museum. this experience was extremely disheartening and I am still out of $70 worth of tickets that were not refunded or given another set of tickets for next time that I decided to come down to Colorado. they do not respond to emails and they do not answer calls . I do not recommend this...
