Usually have a great experience at all Mud Bay locations, including this one (which is closest to my home). The woman working today on 6/29 at 4:15pm was polite and greeted my dog, offered a treat and asked me if I needed help. But there was a man working there today who just kind of lingered walking through the aisles — even when I smiled at him passing by with my well-behaved dog, he just kind of looked at me and said nothing, then I grabbed two bags of food and a bed and began browsing the leashes. He wandered by again, I smiled at him again, but again nothing no greeting to my dog, no offer to help me with my arm full of food bags/bed while I browse, no inquiry to help me find anything.
I’ve been a customer for 10 years and I even used to work at Mud Bay for almost 2 years back in college, so I know what the Mud Bay experience is. It was just unfortunately not present today from that gentleman.
I’ll still continue to come, but I might choose the location closer to my workplace Because it just wasn’t a great experience today. Stopping by after the dog park is supposed to be a treat and an experience, which is why we don’t just order off Amazon. Maybe it was a bad day for him.
I also asked if I could use the restroom since they used to have one open to customers after setting my items on the counter, but all he said was “we don’t have a public restroom.” Not even a polite sorry. I get it. I’ve worked in retail and I know that there are transients nearby who will do drugs in the bathroom, etc., but I kind of felt like this guy was just checked out and more so monitoring/tolerating me rather than actually trying to offer a customer service experience. For reference I was wearing a skirt, tank top, visor and a small fanny pack with my dog so it’s not like I looked suspicious or threatening. I don’t know what that was all about, but the woman working was giving customer service to...
Read moreThe manager Sonja at the Federal Way location is the worst ever and doesn't know what she's talking about. When I first started shopping at the Federal Way location a year or two ago. She told me that trying random foods was a great idea. My dog ended up getting pancreatitis. Which ended up being a big vet bill. My dogs are family and I want the best for them. When my dog got better I told her what happened to my dog. I told her what the vet said. She told me my vet was wrong. Ummmm excuse me you are working at a retail store and you are not a vet. After this conversation every time I go to that location she follows me around the store and harasses me. Asking me over and over again can she help me. I told her if I need help I will ask someone else in the store not her. As she's uneducated and can be no assistance to me. I would appreciate it if she left me alone. Then she tells me she knows I've been talking to several other locations about her. I said yes I have talked to other locations about her. She then said I could leave the store. This woman is uneducated about dog's which is a fact. She should not tell people their vet is wrong. She's rude and extremely wrong in this whole situation. I literally love the Tacoma, Burien and Kent locations and with that the Federal Way location was like the rest because...
Read moreI love how helpful the staff was and while there a man brought in his puppy and even held the leash so he could shop. Now as far as selection, they had a ton of things my puppy Odin loved vs Petsmart where he was not interested in treats or food they had to offer. The price was higher than the other stores mentioned but the products such as chew toys were of great quality so worth paying a Lil more. Also had a lot of tester items which was great. Now the only downside I saw was the same as other comments of out-of-stock of fast-selling items. They didn't have any buckets for the treats which was unfortunate cause I have a puppy and need them for training.
The big question would I recommend and the answer is YES, Keep in mind not the place if on a budget and they do run out of items fast if they even have in stock. So check it out and I guarantee you will find something your...
