Nail Zone — Local services in Honolulu

We found this nail salon on Google and Yelp and after reading the reviews, decided to give it a shot. My friend wanted her nails redone since she broke one and I decided to gift her sister a mani-pedi for her birthday. Some of the reviews left us skeptical but the only way to really see how a place is, is to personally go there. We called early in the day to make a reservation around lunch time and they were accommodating. Instructions on how to get to the salon were sent via text and were detailed and easy to follow.

The walk was not far from the Outrigger, around a 7 minute walk (the crowd and the crosswalk light will slow you down the most, really). The blue building on Seaside does not look the best, especially with the dark interior. But it is hiding a gem of a nail salon with wonderfully talented nail artists!

I'm not one to get mani-pedis, so a lot of this information is from my friend, who frequently goes to nail salons back in Tennessee. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality of work done by the artists. My friend chose a gel nail art design in a magazine and the artist was able to recreate the design perfectly without an issue. She put in so much fine detail on each nail and made it look more beautiful than the magazine!

Her sister enjoyed the nail art and massages. There was a good selection of affordable nail art to choose from, and care was taken to retain the quality of the nails over time. Perfect for her since she works jobs that would degrade regular polish!

This place is the real deal and...

I am here in Hawaii visiting and desperately needed a mani/pedi. Normally I dread going to nail salons on vacation because I’ve had bad experiences with overpriced tourist traps in the past. This place is not that. As other reviewers has said, do not judge it based on the outside/building.The salon is on the smaller side, tools were clean, and they used gloves.

The prices were fair and I received one of the best mani/pedis I’ve had. They took their time, did not rush through it , and did a quality job. They were very meticulous on applying the polish which I loved and appreciated. I also did not want the foot massage during the pedicure to end... maybe because I am used to the 30 second slapping on of lotion in many other places, but they seriously again took their time and did a great massage. The older lady that did my nails was lovely, & very helpful. But the man (the owner) was a complete jerk! From the minute I got there he was trying to get me to spend more money, saying because I’d already spent money coming all the way from NZ, I should spend that extra bit more otherwise it wouldn’t be as great an experience. Rather than letting me enjoy the experience with the lady doing my nails, he sat right next to us, butted into our conversations & talked down to me like I was an idiot. I was going to get the pedicure as well, but because of his attitude I decided not to spend another cent there! The lady was great & the place was clean, but as long as that guy’s hanging around, I wouldn’t recommend...
