Upon arrival we see a line outside the waikiki location. We waited about 50 mins including pick up and wait time. Which is totally understandable, especially reading the hype about this place on yelp and other platforms. Alot People say this place is GOOD, so we decided to give a try. I did read about the lowest rating (1-2 star)review from some of the fellow yelpers and I thought to myself one business cannot satisfied every individual and no business is perfect. Since 90 percent of yelp review stated this is pretty good, i didn’t think it the lower rating ones matter. Long story short. This is the WORST taste sashimi we ever tasted. Usually I prefer to eat the first piece with just wasabi and no soy sauce, if the fish is good and fresh there will be no need for those. And if one tells me i must use a good amount of wasabi with soy sauce, then you might as well eat canned tuna. We each ate the first piece of oyster. Both of us agreed it tastes bitter. After Eating a few pieces of sashimi .We totally CANNOT continue. We ordered oysters, king salmon and chutoro donburi and uni .All of them were pretty bad and does not feel fresh. I really have never eaten sashimi that tastes this bad.The out door temperature is at low- mid 70 Fahrenheit / 21 celsius . Took the food back to hotel after picking up and start eating right away. Price is affordable for sure but quality was not acceptable.
Last but not least . This review will mostly not stop you guys from going. Above is our personal experience and opinion. Please feel free to go at your own risk.
I personally will not come back nor...
Read moreNovember 17, 2022 Marugo Brothers is one of those places that sells really good food and their owners know it, and since they know it, the owners won't care how inconvenient it might be to get your food. Weird store hours, long lines, no parking, no seating, and no ordering ahead, but despite all this, the people will come because the food is so damn good. Fortunately my wife and I were staying at a hotel near Marugo Bros so we walked over a little after 5pm. Weirdly, there wasn't much of a line so we only waited about 10 minutes to order our food and maybe another 5 minutes for our food to be ready. The Hawaiian gods must've been on our side that day. It's also possible that coming on November 17 around 5pm is the most optimal time to come. Like I mentioned earlier, there isn't any seating so we took a short walk to the shopping center across the street and found some comfortable seats and a table. There's also another shopping center a block over with a large food court so you can always eat there if you want. Even better, you can take your food to the beach and watch the sunset while you eat your delicious fish. Anyways... our Hawaiian Limu Ahi and Chirashi Donburi were fantastic. In my opinion, the Hawaiian Limu Ahi tasted better than Ono Seafood's Hawaiian Ahi poke. That's just my opinion though. You should definitely try Ono...

This place is in every single guide on where to go for poke. The reality: in Hawaii, you can find poke bowls everywhere, and some of the pokes that I have eaten were much better than in this place.
First of all, the line was dreadful and was moving very slowly. It’s just a kiosk; there is no service; you order, they tell your name - that’s it.
They have a vast menu to select from. The food quality is superb, but again, is it a special poke place? - I would not say so.
If I were you - I would avoid the line, save some time! You literally find the best pokes in the world in every corner of Hawaii; the chances that you go wrong are as low as you see a shark drinking coffee on the beach.
I took chirashi bowl, a smaller size; the size was perfect, and the amount of food was as well; they put two slices of each fish (not too much). I am not a big eater, so this bowl was two meals for me. However, I paid an extra $8 for uni, which was very disappointing as they barely added any uni. I am not exaggerating, but they have only put half of the teaspoon of uni.
This place is nothing crazy or special, so I would rate it at four points because the food quality was good. But I wish I could put 3,5 because the uni situation was...
