Al's Handmade Boots — Local services in Houston

Al's Custom Boots did an amazing job fixing my brand new Frye boots ("Carly Chukka") that had a manufacturing defect. The suede was cut too thin and the lace holes were stretching open. I could almost fit the tip of my pinky finger through the lace hole! You could see the sock peeking through where the boot laced.

I had only worn them 4 times...I was heartbroken! I had gotten a great deal on them.

These are the dream boots I've been looking for for ages.

So I had to decide whether to ship them back to Frye for a refund or take a wild chance and see if they could be fixed.

I chose Al based on the amazing reviews and the fact that it is a small leathercraft operation. These are pretty rare these days. I wanted to speak to the person would would be working on the boots.

I figured, hey this guy MAKES leather boots. If anybody can fix these boots, it's gotta be AL.

Long story short, I took them to Al's and spoke to Bobby. He absolutely understood exactly what I was asking for.

I picked them up last week and the boots look absolutely perfect. It's like magic -- you would never know that those holes were ever there!

Best of all the (new) lining suede is very strong and should last for many, many years to come. And it's still soft, just like before. If you didn't know better you would never think any repair was done.

I'm so glad I took the chance and had Al's team fix my "dreamboots" instead of sending them back for a refund.

Thank you Bobby and Al! I'll be joying these for many...

My wife is a minister and the strap on her dress pump snapped and she needed it right away and I took both shoes in so they could compare so the matching pair would align. The staff that greeted me at the door were extremely courteous and professional. I mentioned I Needed i ASAP and the replied “No problem sir”. They took my number and advised me to watch my text they would inform me when the shoe was ready. Street parking is ample right out front. I got in my car and had to finish some important correspondence and I had planned to leave and grab a bite to eat. I was only there about 20 minutes when I got a txt telling me they were ready. Man not only did they fix the shoe that was broken they touched up both shoes with leather dye and polished them. They look BRAND NEW! Highly recommend this establishment for repairs and I plan on returning for so personalized...

My dad has very special feet ; and he was struggling to find working boots that didn't hurt the back of his feet. Since, he used to buy boots from sears for several years but they changed the type of sole inside the shoe.

We didn't have luck finding the perfect boot but on Yelp, we found this excellent store! Al was extremely nice and he was able to make custom soles for two pairs of boots for my father at a awesome price. Thank you Al, my father is able to work with no problem again....
