We were so excited to try the new Palm Tree Club - so we booked an online reservation for my sisters birthday. When we got there they sat us immediately which was amazing & the host even gave us her favorite booth. We ordered our drinks - which all came out at the same time, two alcoholic beverages & one mocktail & they all tasted very good. Then we ordered “global snacks” for our appetizers & entrees all at the same time however, nothing came out in order or any where near each other. There was three of us - one of us ordered firecracker sushi (entree) which came out first, without chopsticks or soy sauce. The shrimp toast and cucumber sunomono came out next which both had amazing flavor, the portion size of the shrimp toast just seemed a bit off. One of us ordered the bolognese as well which was fantastic but we were still missing an entree. After about 15 more minutes we asked our server (Kat) if the last entree, spicy tuna roll, was still coming and by the look on her face i could tell it had been forgotten so she ran back and got that out to us. When we finally got the soy sauce for the first sushi roll it was basically empty and we needed to get a new one. The food runner was also not very clear and did not speak up so we had a very hard time understanding what he as saying and what food he was bringing to us. All in all the food was the saving grace! The flavors were amazing and it was all very well prepared. The last thing we ordered was the Dubai chocolate tiramisu which was bomb.
Cheers to the chef!!
But then something very odd took place. As we were waiting for the check, another server came over to the table & said “the bartender wanted me to give you this shot for your birthday”. Mind you the birthday girl was the one who ordered the mocktail. She said she didn’t drink to which he says “neither do I” so then he offers the shot to everyone else at the table including the waitress. As we wait for our cards - he proceeds to have the same server bring over TWO more shots that were non-alcoholic. Like how rude, inconsiderate & so disrespectful to her sobriety. My sister and I then went upstairs to check out the roof top bar, this was around 10 and it looked like it was already closed off which sucked because the hours online say 11pm but it was still a very cute space. As we were leaving the same bartender then decided to say “have a great birthday” as my sister is walking out. He really didn’t get the hint and we were very nice about it. The food truly saved this weird experience.
We would go back, but we would be nervous to see the bartender again. Thank you...
Read more5-Star Tropical Vibes: Palm Tree Club and Bartender Tony Make for an Unforgettable Sunday in KC Nestled in Kansas City’s lively Power & Light District, Palm Tree Club is a coastal-chic escape that transports you to Miami or Orlando with its lush decor, pulsing DJ beats, and a rooftop perfect for soaking in downtown sunsets. Opened last month by DJ Kygo’s Palm Tree Crew, this spot delivers laid-back luxury in spades. My friends and I visited on a Sunday just as brunch was winding down around 2 PM, giving us the chance to sample both their stellar brunch and main menu offerings. Spoiler: it was phenomenal, thanks in large part to our bartender Tony, who made the experience absolutely out of this world. Palm Tree Club set the tone for a perfect outing. Tony, our bartender, was the star of the show. With an infectious energy and a knack for reading the group, he asked what we were craving. When I mentioned wanting something sweet and smoky, he crafted an Oaxaca Old Fashioned—that was pure perfection. It was so incredible I ordered a second (and yes, I had to snap a pic). Tony’s personalized touch and genuine warmth turned every drink into a moment, and the cocktail menu—think tropical mules and fresh-squeezed margaritas—paired flawlessly with the club’s chill electronic vibe. The food was a knockout, blending the best of brunch and dinner. Since we caught the tail end of brunch, we dove into their chicken and waffles, which was a masterclass in balance—crispy, golden chicken atop fluffy waffles with just the right drizzle of maple syrup. As brunch transitioned to the main menu, we shared the meatballs, which were juicy and packed with flavor, and the dumplings, which popped with freshness. The burrata was a creamy, dreamy highlight, served with vibrant heirloom tomatoes and a basil kick that felt like summer on a plate. Every dish was beautifully presented, perfectly portioned for sharing, and arrived without a hitch—no small feat for a busy Sunday. Palm Tree Club’s two-level setup makes it the ultimate spot to hang with friends. The mezzanine offers cozy nooks for deeper chats, while the rooftop lounge, with its open-air views and live DJ sets, is made for dancing and skyline vibes. In a city full of BBQ and steakhouses, this tropical gem stands out as a go-to for brunch, date nights, or group hangouts. Tony’s magic behind the bar, paired with the incredible food and electric atmosphere, made our Sunday unforgettable. Palm Tree Club earns a glowing 5 stars, and we’re already planning our next visit. If you’re in KC, don’t sleep on this place—it’s a vibe, a meal, and a...
Read moreMy friend and I came here for food and drinks last night because I won a giveaway that I had entered on their Instagram. The manager emailed me to confirm my reservation and all that was included in the giveaway. When we got to the restaurant, they didn’t even have my name down for a reservation, let alone the gift card that I had won. Nobody knew anything about it. They honored it anyway, after pulling out emails, but that meant we had to use the full amount there since there was no actual gift card to save the remaining amount for another time and/or to tip with. That was frustrating, but I can understand how it was a miscommunication and was happy they still honored it anyway. So moving on to the rest of the night, there was a few things included in the giveaway package and one of them being “dedicated service” which we did not receive. The service was very bad. I can get away with the miscommunication, but I had higher expectations for the service. Our server was kind, but not very attentive. It took a long while to get our food and drinks out. It was busy so I’m ok with waiting a little longer than usual but there were countless mistakes. The kitchen staff brought over dumplings twice when we never ordered dumplings, and they forgot about our sushi. We had a drink delivered to our table that was supposed to be for the people sitting next to us, when we realized and gave it to them. The complimentary bottle of champagne that was included had the top thrown out so we couldn’t take the rest home nor could we finish the whole thing there. I asked for a box before we left and it never got brought out to us, so we just left after tipping. There were also a lot of people trying to come in/out and crowd in without a table even though it’s more of a bar/restaurant, not a club. The atmosphere and ambiance was really pretty and the drinks were good, but that’s about the best I could say about this place. The food was just ok but nothing special for the price. Maybe I’d give it another shot once they’ve been open for longer and can run the...
