I recently visited Amina Spa for their spring special and left with mixed feelings. While the actual massage was fantastic, the experience before and after left quite a bit to be desired—especially when it came to pricing clarity and customer service.
As a guest of the hotel, I booked the seasonal special that was advertised at $125, with an additional 20% discount for hotel guests. So naturally, I expected the final price to reflect that. However, when I checked in, I was told the total—including gratuity—would be $167. After asking about the hotel discount, the total was adjusted to $137. But that still didn’t make sense, because if the discounted rate was $100, the added gratuity came out to 37%, and I had no choice or input in the matter. It was just presented to me as the fixed price, which felt unfair—especially since gratuity is typically left to the client’s discretion.
On top of that, I asked at the front desk if I could start my treatment early, since I arrived well before my scheduled time. The receptionist initially said yes and checked me in—but then, after leading me to the locker room, told me I actually couldn’t begin until my original appointment time. So I ended up waiting for almost an hour with little to do. The spa amenities are very limited—just a steam room—so it wasn’t the most relaxing wait.
That said, the massage itself was excellent. My therapist was professional, attentive, and delivered a truly therapeutic experience. The massage table was comfortable, though I do wish it had been a bit warmer for better relaxation.
In summary: the massage was well worth it, but the poor communication around pricing, gratuity, and scheduling really took away from the overall spa experience. If you’re going for the treatment alone, you’ll likely leave happy. But if you’re expecting full-service luxury and transparency, you might end...
Read moreI get regular massages for chronic pain (I'd say I've had close to 50 at this point). This was my first time at a true spa, and Amina certainly did not disappoint. The whole spa experience was so luxurious that it really elevated the massage. Water bottles, robes, and sandals were included. You can see the locker room in my photos that even had a steam room. My husband and I made a mistake when booking online and did two separate 50 minutes massages vs. a couple's massage, which they fixed for us with no complaints or problems. Our masseuses were both wonderful. It was my husband's first massage, and he said it was "it felt a little strange to me at first until she got to my shoulders. I didn't realize how sore/tight they were until she focused on that area. I feel so much better now." My chronic pain really felt so much better after this massage. She did a wonderful job of checking in with me about the pressure etc. I would 1000000% recommend to anyone else and would definitely go back.
Oh, and the price was quite affordable in my opinion - I've researched couples massages back home in Pittsburgh and was expecting this to be significantly more money, but it was quite comparable even with 18% built...
Read moreMy experience with this spa was top notch! I am a spa junkie and love being able to splurge and enjoy when away from home! I had a seasonal facial and a Sedona mud wrap with Melissa - she was incredible. Sooo knowledgeable, she shared tips to keep my skin looking great. She was so kind and the results were fabulous. LOVED! Then I did massage with Jay, I had never had male masseuse before so it took me an extra minute to relax, but then I was off to another planet! Ha! Jay asked what pressure I wanted and asked if there were any concerns, he worked his magic and may have ruined me for my normal massages at home. Incredible! I wish I had asked the front desk girl her name - we saw a lot of eachother with all the treating myself I did ;) She was so sweet and kind with the most genuine smile! 10/10
I haven't ever managed to do a steam room so I was slightly bummed that was out of order, but that didn't affect my experiences at all.
Thank you,...
