My family and I stayed at the Madeira Bay Resort room 408. It was positively perfect, ABOVE and beyond my expectations. We were greeted kindly and warmly by Paul at the front desk and always taken care of. I come from a family full of janitors and cleaning ladies, so my bar is high when it comes to cleanliness of an establishment including dust, hard-to-clean areas, crumbs under couches, etc. Here the kitchen, rooms, and bathrooms were thoroughly clean - top notch. The location of the condominium was PERFECT because my husband hates sand so we were not TOO close to the beach, but still the beach was right across the street- a less than 2 minute walk for the kids. Shops and cute boutiques lined the entire way of Gulf Boulevard and were right outside the resort so we NEVER had to drive anywhere. We just walked because it was so close. This is a God-send for a family with small children. You never have to pack anything or get into the car. You just walked everywhere because everything was so close. We have a 3 year old, 4 year old, and 5 year old so Madeira Bay Resort room 408 was absolutely perfect for 3 toddlers. The pool has a spot where it is only like 9 inches deep or something which is convenient to have the kids not being scared to get into the pool because of the shallow area. There is a fence all around the pool area and a gate-lock so no strangers coming in, just the residents of the resort who knew the code. The residents were also so cordial and kind. Restaurants and cute cafes right outside both sides of the resort. It felt like I was in a tropical movie every-time we were poolside because the cantina next door has an open deck where they play good music outside. It was a picture-perfect place to go because the scenery was esthetically pleasing- palms trees, beach in the skyline, big bright white boats parked in the bay, bright colored buildings and hotels all along Gulf Boulevard. I had to order something from Amazon to our room and of course Amazon left it right in the public area at the entrance. Roman from the front desk immediately noticed the Amazon package and took it in with him to the front desk office for safe-keeping. So very kind, thank you to that young guy. Everything we needed was provided inside the condominium like beach balls, boogie boards, and even laundry detergent. My husband and I will most definitely be coming again to the same exact location with our toddlers- Madeira Bay...

So far our stay at 13048 Gulf Blvd has been terrible. We haven't had cool AC the entire stay. Our unit stays between 82 and 85 degrees almost all day... that is with windows closed, blinds shut and the thermostat set no lower than 72. Early in our week-long stay we called and reported our issue. The person who answered the phone immediately blamed us for 'freezing the unit." As a tradesman and prior Florida resident, I know what happens if you attempt to force an AC unit to cool. We didn't lower the thermostat below the recommended 72. The AC unit never froze. Vents just blew warm air. When someone was sent they were extremely unfriendly and told us it would "hold for a day or so" and nobody returned to resolve the real issue. As of today with our stay almost over we have not had a cool home to stay in. We called again today and were told someone would be out tomorrow but... they also said, without empathy ... "your trip is almost over...."

The refrigerator was nasty. The ice maker is held together with electrical tape and takes most of the day to make any ice.
My wife owns a cleaning businesses. We understand this is a beach property and is hard to keep clean but... a few minutes in the home and my crawling 10 month old child was covered in black dirt from the floors. My wife left and returned with a swifter and spent an hour scrubbing the floors and almost a whole container of wipes to get it somewhat clean. And that was the first clean. She cleaned them three times after that.
The toilet barely flushes.
The hot water was unreliable.
Multiple electrical outlets don't work, some show signs of burning and... as an electrician myself... I will say, it is pretty questionable.
So, with all of this being said....let's see what TRS does about this. I use Google to leave positive and insightful reviews. This is a first. Hopefully the right thing is done and my first vacation in many...
   Read moreMy husband and I were looking forward to our month-long vacation in Madeira Beach. Upon our arrival, we noticed a thick layer of dirt and dust that had accumulated on the many blinds, light fixtures and floors. We immediately complained to TRS, and a cleaning lady was sent over. The cottage was so filthy that she had to return two more times during our week stay to continue cleaning. We also noticed there were small bugs in the silverware drawers in the kitchen. To make matters even worse, when we got up the next morning, there was an influx of ants on the kitchen counters, cabinets & on every window sill. We went to the office of TRS again, and an exterminator was sent over to spray and set ant traps. There obviously was an ant infestation, and after the exterminator sprayed, ants were swarming out from everywhere-even found on our bodies. Not only did we have to deal with the aggravation of this ongoing situation, but we also had to spend a lot of time, instead of enjoying our vacation, waiting for these various workers to come over and do what needed to be done. And we were spending hundreds per day for our stay and certainly not enjoying ourselves! After a week of unsuccessful attempts to resolve these issues, we had had it! We had to leave. We approached management about getting a refund as the rental should have been clean and exterminated before new tenants arrived. Obviously, TRS did not review the condition of this rental prior to our arrival. TRS was uninterested in inspecting our cottage to see the living conditions for themselves and refused to give us a refund.
