Awili Spa and Salon at Andaz Maui — Local services in Maui

I was going to surprise my wife with a spa day for her birthday when we were in Maui, so I booked her a massage treatment at the Andaz Maui spa.

After confirming with them 3 times that she would indeed have the appointment, I get a call the day before saying that “due to increased business operations”, they had to cancel her treatment. This was after confirming with them and even changing the time I had previously booked for her.

I pushed the lady on the phone a little bit, since her explanation was poor, and the fact that now I had to scramble to get my wife a treatment somewhere else. She budged a little bit and said that when they only have a few treatments, “Say we have only one treatment for example”, then they close up shop for the whole day.

This whole experience rubbed me the wrong way. I totally understand that COVID has negatively impacted spas in general. Every other spa I contacted though said they were booked up, whereas this one apparently isn’t good enough to get more than one booking on the weekend during...

I would give zero stars if I could. Not exaggerating that this was the worst massage I've ever had, and I'm a regular spa-goer globally and go to RMT massages monthly.

Booked Connect 60 massage for two and my partner had the same experience. Our masseuses were two white women, one in her 40s, one in her 30s – wish we took their names, but we could not wait to get out of there.

There was no education, or understanding muscle structure. I've had a better massage from my 10-year niece! The body work was totally imbalanced and clumsy: she would work on one side and completely forget to do the other side. We had both repeatably asked for firm pressure, and it was just this mediocre light touch with uncoordinated, unsure movements, making things up as they went along.

I was annoyed, infuriated and stressed the whole time. A waste of time, money and energy. Spend it somewhere else. We were guests of Andaz, stayed last August. The low-point of our otherwise...

The spa at the Andaz continues to be an absolute favorite of mine. This was my second visit, and once again, it did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is serene and welcoming, and the level of care from the entire team is exceptional.

I was lucky enough to be paired with Rebekkah for my massage—pure serendipity! She has a true gift. She took the time to really listen to my needs, and I left feeling completely relaxed with all the tension in my upper back gone. Her technique, attention to detail, and calming presence made the entire experience unforgettable.

I can’t recommend this spa enough. It’s a must if you’re looking to unwind, recharge, and treat yourself. I’ll definitely be coming back again...
