â 3/5 - Overpriced and Underwhelming for a Luxury Resort
We visited Lehua Lounge at the Andaz Resort, expecting a high-end experience to match the resortâs reputation and prices, but the visit fell short in several ways. While not everything was terrible, the food and drinks failed to justify the exorbitant costs, and the atmosphere and service were disappointing.
Drinks
We ordered two cocktails at $22 each, and while the presentation was nice, the quality didnât match the price tag. I chose the Island Mai Tai after reading glowing reviews but found it average at bestâcertainly not the âamazingâ experience I had hoped for. My wifeâs cocktail wasnât memorable either. For $44 total, the drinks were unimpressive and left us feeling like weâd wasted our money.
Food
The food was acceptable but nowhere near worth the price. ⢠The poke bowl was decent, but it was mostly rice with only a small portion of fish. At a more reasonable price, it might have been enjoyable, but not at the premium theyâre charging. ⢠The edamame, typically a simple favorite, was disappointing. My wife found it unappetizing and only managed a few bites. I thought it was okay, but definitely not up to par for a place of this caliber.
For a small bowl of edamame, a poke dish, and two subpar cocktails, our total came to just under $100 (excluding tip). At this price point, we expected far better quality and portion sizes.
Service
The service was mediocre. While the waitress wasnât rude, she wasnât friendly or attentive eitherâjust going through the motions. For a resort where rooms often exceed $1,000 per night, the service should feel warm and inviting, which it did not.
Ambiance
The setting of Lehua Lounge is surprisingly underwhelming. Itâs an outdoor bar setup that wouldnât stand out at a mid-tier resort. During the day, the light-reflective rocks on the ground cause glare, making it uncomfortable to enjoy the view.
What really soured the experience was witnessing staff enforce rules unnecessarily. Two resort guests with takeout food attempted to sit at a far-off table, but they were told the lounge was âfor paying customers only.â Given that the lounge was almost empty, this came across as tacky and unwelcoming, especially at a resort of this caliber.
Final Thoughts
While the food wasnât horrible, it was nowhere near good enough to justify the prices. The drinks were lackluster, the service was average, and the ambiance failed to impress. For a resort charging $1,000+ per night, Lehua Lounge feels like a missed opportunity.
If youâre looking for a luxurious dining experience, Iâd recommend looking elsewhere. Itâs not a complete disaster, but itâs far from being worth the price. Save your money for a...
Read moreThe bar is situated overlooking the top pool on the Hema tower side of the Andaz hotel. Atmosphere: the view around sunset and after canât get much better than this. As the food is served poolside all the plates and glasses are shatterproof. (Plastic) The vibe is relaxed and upbeat with music emanating (not too loud) from the bar. I enjoyed seeing the bartender bounce to the beat while serving up drinks. Food: the quality of the fish tacos (tender fish and stuffed tacos) and mochiko chicken bowl (crispy and spicy) is high. The serving size was on the small side, which I appreciated. However you could say lower value for money. Service: a team of servers came to our table to take requests, bring our food and drinks and check-in. I love to see great teamwork. Thanks for a great first meal...
Read moreLehua Lounge in Andaz-Maui was very enjoyable. Our waitress, Heidi, was friendly and took good care of us. The live entertainment was excellent (Jason Arcilla) and the ambiance was peaceful and beautiful. My Husband had a Mai Tai and I had a glass of the house Chardonnay. Both were good. The Parmesean Fries & Lobster Grilled cheese with salad were delicious. I have also enjoyed their Ahi Poke on another visit. Highly recommend Lehua Lounge. Valet parking is validated by the lounge so a tip is always appreciated by the...
