I agreed on a room price of $1650 in this apartment. When I moved in, I mentioned that I came for work and asked if I could transfer the room to someone else in case I faced any issues. One of the staff members assured me that it would be possible, and I rented the room based on that condition. However, after a few months, I realized my work wasn’t going well and informed them that I wanted to transfer my room. I was then told that it couldn’t be transferred and that I would need to pay two months’ rent to move out.
I provided evidence of the agreement I had with their staff at the time of signing and shared our conversations to prove their mistake. After approximately 1.5 months of meetings and discussions, they decided that I was right and allowed me to transfer the room to someone else. Despite this, I had to pay two more months’ rent during the process, even though my work wasn’t going well.
Just as I was about to transfer the room, I noticed on their official website that they had announced a $200 discount on all room prices. Naturally, the person interested in renting my room saw this and accused me of being dishonest because my price was higher than the discounted rate. I immediately sent an email explaining that this situation put me in a difficult position and requested to transfer the room at the official website price so I wouldn’t appear deceitful. They refused my request. As a result, I had no choice but to pay two months’ rent and move out.
During this time, I repeatedly requested a discount, but either received no response or only heard back weeks or even months later. I had to visit their office every day, asking them to check their emails and address my concerns. Eventually, they approved my move-out request, but instead of calculating my final payments based on the agreed $1650 rent, they charged me $1950 for two months. They claimed this was due to the “discount” they had given me for two months earlier in the lease. In the end, I paid $1950 for two months and moved out.
I received my security deposit back in full. However, during my six-month stay, my roommates changed twice, and I wasn’t able to choose who moved in. It was difficult to adapt to new people. For example, one roommate insisted on setting the air conditioning to 62°F (16°C) at night, turning the room into an icebox. Despite my complaints, management ignored the issue.
The room I stayed in had very poor insulation. I could hear the sounds of people showering and using the restroom, as the pipes ran through the walls of the rooms. If you’re a light sleeper, this will disturb you constantly. Don’t expect to enjoy the pool during summer; the pool lights turn off at 5 PM. I reported this, but they didn’t take any action. The gym was small, and the air conditioning frequently broke down. As for the parking area, the elevator was out of service five days a week, forcing you to use a long fire escape staircase.
The entire experience was extremely challenging for me. I hope solutions to these problems...
Read moreI’ve been living in this building for almost a year now and I highly do not recommend. The washer and dryer breaks every few months and it seems like there’s no urgency behind fixing the issue. My washer flooded my apartment multiple times causing my clothes to mildew. It seems like between the management and maintenance team, they’d much rather put a bandage over the issue rather than come up with a solution. My fridge also lost power on numerous occasions, making both my food, and my roommates food go bad… groceries aren’t cheap. I was told by management that there would be an adjustment on my account for the inconvenience, and to no surprise… it never happened. I found a much better building and decided to move a month before my lease ends, because I couldn’t deal with the BS anymore. This morning put the cherry on top because I woke up and everything from my latch app was gone and I didn’t have access to the main door, elevators, or amenities. The office was notified by my roommate that I moved out (again I moved out a month early and my lease at i5 doesn’t end for another 27 days) and took it upon themselves to remove access from everything without notifying me. The office was very much informed of my issues so I also shared with them that I was moving a month early, but they knew when my lease ended… so I don’t know why they did that because I still have a good amount of my belongings in my unit. I’ve been calling multiple times for the past 3 hours trying to get access to a building that I’m paying rent for and there’s no rush to get it done.
As far as the building goes, the amenities are small and has ants everywhere!! The couch in the unit is the most uncomfortable couch I’ve ever sat on, but the mattress that was provided was very comfortable. The cleaning lady (I don’t know her name) is the sweetest lady ever and cleans the common areas pretty well. She’s the only reason this building gained an extra star. Overall I WOULD NOT...
Read moreDon't live here. Every Tues my suite and the hallway on my floor are filled with engine exhaust fumes (like from a running car). This is extremely bad for your health. When I brought this health concer to management, they said it's the building's generators that run every Tues. They refused to do anything to fix it. I bought an air filter, and I stuff a towel under my door every Tues to try and limit the fumes from entering my room, but the management here don't care about your health concerns, as long as they're getting money out of you. And you can't leave because you signed a lease. Also, the pool area is closed every night because it's a "safety concern". They need to re-evaluated their definition of a safety concern. They don't allow you to take the public gym equipment onto the turf that's right beside the gym, even though the gym has severe off-gassing from being new. If you workout in the gym instead of the turf you will get light-headed from all the fumes. This is bad for your health. They don't take health concerns seriously, they only impose their rules on you and do nothing to help. Also on new years eve, I was alone because of difficult circumstances, I went up to the roof to watch the fireworks since I didn't have anyone to spend time with, and one or two strangers joined me, then security came up just before midnight and said I wasnt allowed to be on the roof. It's new year's ever for crying out loud, and I live here! Leave me alone. I had to be by myself for new years and these security people have the audacity to tell me at 11:50pm that I'm not allowed to watch fireworks from the roof. This was the biggest thing for me, and the main reason I will steer people away from this place. There is nothing humane about security disturbing people in their home and ruining...
