Food: 5 Service: 0 Ambiance: 4
I had reservations for a 9 PM seating for four people on Saturday night. I arrive at 8:55 PM and am told that our table is not ready so we should grab a drink by the bar to wait but to not worry that we were next. As we were walking to the bar, the hostess tells us to “remind her” that we were waiting on a table. After 25 minutes we go back to the hostess to ask for an update and she tells us that they are “figuring it out.” I then see them put two tables together and seat a party of 4 after she had told us that we were next in line for a table. We once again go back and she says that the next table to get up is now ours. Two separate parties of two get up who were seated next to each other and she sits two separate couples that arrived after us there instead of seating us. We then see a guy is helping her seat everyone so we ask him for an update and he says the hostess had never even checked us in. My party of four was finally seated at 9:50 PM in a table for two people. We were extremely cramped but at that point we were glad we had a table. We are waiting at the table for another 25 minutes without anyone coming to give us water or ask if we would like to order anything. We flag down the hostess who tells us the server is very busy but she helped us get our waitress to our table to place our order. The food is tapas style so we ordered a few dishes to try everything. We did not wait long for the food to come out. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. We did not regret ordering anything. Since placing our meal order, our waitress never once came back to see if we needed anything. To order dessert it was another mission to flag her down which was unsuccessful and once again had to ask the hostess twice to please call our waitress over. Once we placed the order and the desserts arrived, they were delicious.
Now I know why this establishment has such horrible service, because the waitress knows she’s getting automatic 18% gratuity included in the bill. I literally saw this waitress twice the entire night, and boy was it difficult to find her and get her to come to the table. While the food is very good and there is a lively ambiance, I am unwilling to go through the fiasco and complete lack of respect that is...
Read moreI had to come here to leave a 5 star review, as this was by far an AMAZING Valentine's day dinner, and likely the best outing we've had so far!
They offered a 3-course prix fixe menu that was accompanied with 3 cocktails, which was reasonably priced for Miami. We were the first ones to arrive at the restaurant, which is intimate with only 20 or so tables. The whole team went above and beyond by setting up cute rose balloons and bouquets at each table, and had a very nice bossa nova playlist over the speakers that covered popular songs and was not loud or overpowering .
I ordered the smoked lobster tacos, scallop risotto & chocolate cake with dulce de leche ice cream, and my girlfriend had the wagyu beef crispy rice, braised short rib with gnocchi, and the almost cake with banana ice cream. Each course had generous portions, were nicely plated, and tasted absolutely delicious! The cocktails were just as great, especially the espresso martini (they use scotch which was a major plus for me) and the vice sour. Special shoutout to the cafetera old fashioned and paparazzi for their presentation. NOTE: they also offered a vegetarian option for the appetizer & main course.
Around an hour into our dinner the playlist was replaced by a live DJ & saxophonist, which was a nice added touch for us since we love live music. Our server was extremely attentive, along with the entire staff as we had a few others come by our table to ask if we needed anything else, or to pick up our empty plates/glasses after each course/drink was finished.
We left the place feeling full, satisfied, and grateful. Thank you to the entire Spanglish staff for an unforgettable experience. We will be...
Read moreI’ve been gaslighted by the bartender. Disappointed because I genuinely liked the place and often brought new people, but due to his behavior, now will never step foot in there again. I am always happy to pay a minimum when the rules are communicated to me clearly. However, I was lied to and was told this time that there has always been a “20 dollar ladies night food minimum” even though I am a regular at ladies night and that has never been the case. The bartender made up that every time I come to the Wednesday ladies night, I order 20 dollars worth of food, and thus did not know about the “20 dollar food minimum”. I have only ordered food once, and that too was a 6 dollar snack. When I told him I was more than happy to pay the minimum if that is a new rule, without ordering food, he told me he was going out of his way and being kind because I “did not know the rule” and decided to charge me a dollar for a bottle of still water (mind you, I did not order any bottled still water- I drank tap). The website at the time and in the past had never said anything about a minimum. When I kindly told him to have the establishment update the website that says “free drinks for ladies” to, “free drinks with 20 dollar minimum” he told me it was being updated as we speak, but that was also a lie. The thing is, I don’t mind paying. I am happy to pay a minimum. But lying to women and telling them one thing to get them through the door, then telling them another thing once they are finished at the table, is a very disappointing and heartbreaking experience for us all. I am genuinely saddened that this speakeasy has resorted to such behavior instead of just being honest...
