Grassroots Salad Company — Local services in Milwaukee

We visited Grassroots for a lunch with work, which was my first time stopping by. My coworkers all had positive experiences here and recommended going. I thought it was enjoyable and appreciated the wide variety of options to choose from.

I tried the Kriti Salad, which was basically a Greek salad. I chose to add chicken. I almost wish I had tried the Asian Salad, as I think I would have liked the roasted peanut ginger dressing a little better than the Greek goddess dressing on the Kriti. Don’t get me wrong, the salad was good but there were a lot of choices.

The salads are large, so they are a pretty good value. One thing our group lamented about was the dressing on top made it hard to mix things up properly as the salad was so thick. It would be nice if the salad was tossed in a large bowl before being served to distribute the dressing. Other than that, everyone enjoyed their lunches. There was an issue with one of the wraps a coworker had, but the staff was quick to correct it and totally re-made the wrap. For this I would say the customer service was excellent, definitely going above and beyond.

I look forward to returning at some point to try one of the other salads, or maybe go with the build-your-own. It’s nice to have a healthy place to get a quick lunch so...

Grassroots Salad Company is a very clean, neat restaurant! The staff was very open and welcoming, and they were immediately there to accommodate the customers. You can choose your own salad base (romaine, spring mix, super blend, etc.), and all the ingredients are displayed in front of you which makes the experience feel more fresh and modern. I ordered the Market Cobb salad and a 12 oz Dr. Roots fresh pressed juice. They definitely met my expectations!

One thing that I think they could improve on is making their salads more unique. Their five salads - the Santa Fe, Kriti, Asian, Caesar, and Market Cobb - are all standard, generic recipes. I think if they added spices on their protein choices (or at least offered it) and included ingredients like roasted sweet corn, sun-dried tomatoes, and maple bacon (instead of or alongside the plain corn, grape tomatoes, and plain bacon), it would help them stand out from the other health-based restaurants in town.

Love their new chic location downtown Milwaukee in the Chase Tower! Their fresh organic salads are made to order right before your eyes. They have a wide array of organic lettuces and toppings to choose from. My favorite salad on their menu is the Santa Fe salad. It's huge! They make their dressings fresh daily. This one comes with southwestern flavored chipotle-lime ranch dressing that is tangy and light, the perfect complement for the corn, black beans, tomato and tortilla strips. It tastes fantastic with avocado. I work about 7 blocks away and decided to order my favorite salad and a Mango Fest juice (yum!) for delivery. I was surprised that it arrived in under 20 minutes.
