As soon as you step in the doors of Studio B, automatically you feel the air shift, you feel a certain energy within itself. You step into the lobby with your guide as he gives you the history of RCA Victor while playing music as a backdrop. Songs by Elvis,Fats Domino,Dolly Parton etc. Then you walk through a small hallway seeing old recording devices. Then comes the actual studio. He opens the door to a room that's glowing as a time capsule. It's just an old room with a piano, recording devices and other different instruments but it's the feel, the energy of the history as he talks about the many many number 1 hits that came out of that room, again with music as a backdrop.
The guide dimmed the lights to certain songs so you catch that lightening in a bottle moment.
My mentor wrote a number 1 hit for Elvis (I Got Stung), and he played it for me which was recorded there. David Hess (Hill) would be proud. If you are a music fan, history buff or fan of any of their artists, you'll absolutely love this chock full of musical history. Thanks to our guide, I think his name was Josh, he was SpongeBob for Halloween. He was funny, engaging and knew his stuff....
Read moreIncredible tour by CMHoF tour leader Ron! This guy could tell you what time of day Elvis asked the studio manager to turn down the heat, who was in the studio when the request was made, what the temp was set to, where Elvis stood when he made the request, and the song that was then recorded in the cold studio.
Seriously though - I'm just so amazed that you're able to sit in the actual studio where so many incredible songs were made by such an incredibly talented group of artists, musicians, producers, engineers, etc. You're not behind some velvet rope looking into the studio... You're actually in the studio! And Ron's incredible depth of knowledge was just so impressive. This is not somebody who was reading from a script, this was somebody who has a deep appreciation of and connection to this music. Even as somebody who is not a fan of country music, this tour was a very...
Read moreRCA studio B is an absolute MUST for anyone visiting the Country music hall of fame. Pay the extra money for the bus ride over and accompanying tour. Hope for a great informative tour guide. Over 1000....1000 #1 hits have been recorded in this studio including songs by Dolly Parton, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and some guy named Elvis. I've done it multiple times because every tour guide has different stories and different visions of the studio and it's history. You can take as many pictures as you would like as well. It's like stepping back into time when you enter the main recording area as not much has changed in the room just the recording equipment and technology behind the...
