Some context: I've tried laser hair removal twice before. 10 years ago, and 5 years ago. I saw no lasting difference so I thought it was a skin/hormone issue and that laser simply wouldn't work on me I'm mixed-Black, so I have medium skin and dark, course curly hair. Struggled with ingrowns and scarring

RESULTS I'm 2 treatments in with Bared Monkey (my 3rd is next week) and wow. The impact it's had on the hair and my life is STARK.

By just the second treatment 75% of the hair is gone, and the remaining 25% is 4x thinner and is now fine baby hairs. Its shocking. I haven't had an ingrown hair since the first treatment, and the hairs that do grow back are fine and straight.

PAIN LEVEL I've been waxed, electrolysis, and laser. Bared Monkey's laser comes in at the lowest pain level for sure. The first session literally felt like nothing. The second they increased the power, and it felt maybe like an static shock on the most sensitive areas but it was majority completely painless. No bleeding, inflamation, or pain after leaving, and the hairs started falling out 1-2 weeks after treatment.

PRICE Felt a little costly when I booked it but now that I see the results, 100% worth every penny. I used a Groupon coupon for one of my treatment zones so definitely take advantage of them even if you combo it with more treatment areas.

FINAL THOUGHTS 10 treatments 10 years ago is not the same as 2 treatments in 2024.

The technology has come a very long way, especially for Black and Brown skin tones. Bared Monkeys ND-YAG laser is perfect for our skin. The staff there is all very professional, kind, and pleasant (and all women I think which I loved)

I highly recommend Bared Monkey Laser Spa as I’ve been here multiple times and I’ve appreciated the service and my results after each visit. To start, the booking process is very smooth and if I have any issues, their team responds quite swiftly. Definitely utilize their Groupon deals, since they’re so worth it, especially if you’re doing laser hair removal for the first time.

The waiting area is neat, spacious and cozy with minimal aesthetics. I booked for a large area (Brazilian) laser hair removal treatment. Prior to my first session, I received an in depth consultation to go over the process and address any questions I had. I appreciate the insight into the aftercare and laser technology devices used. During my appointment, my technician, Kiki was friendly, patient and reassured me throughout the process. She’s knowledgeable and answered any concerns I had and made me feel comfortable, as it can be a bit awkward at first, since it’s an intimate area. The appointment goes by quickly, usually no more than 10 minutes. She used an Elizabethan laser device which blows cool air while projecting the laser, so the pain is tolerable, like slight pricks for the most part. I’m so grateful for this tech, since it’s far less painful than waxing and another laser device I’ve experienced that requires a gel!

I’m reviewing this after having 7 sessions and I’m so pleased with my results! Most of the hair in that area is no longer visible, and the hair that remains, is much finer. I've been going here since the start of the year. Like the first week of January I had my first full legs session and since I've gone for the Naked Mole Rat 😂. Am almost done with my six sessions for the legs and the results have been great. I had a session with Kiki earlier today and she was great, as usual. I have her for a few of my other sessions and she always takes time to make sure you are feeling well during the session. I highly recommend this spa.

UPDATE: I just wanted to provide an update since I finished my previous packages. I had to go back because I noticed that the results weren't holding up over the four months I stopped going. This was something I expected and it seems my hair type needed more continuous sessions so I bought a package of three sessions for the areas I did before. I did notice that even with the hair growing again, the thickness and quantity are less than before I did the sessions. It also grows much slower. Still a great place, run by knowledgeable workers. My only grind with the place is their tipping system. Not the tipping itself but how they calculate the tipping. For example, they give you "discounts" for the sessions but it seems they calculate their tips based on the amount before the discounts were calculated. The last time I was there, the tip I elected to leave it was $73 dollars but after they were done with their calculations, it came up to $90. Like I have no issue leaving a big tip but they should really work on being more transparent with how they...
