I came to this salon after a friend highly recommended Tonyâshe had a consultation with him and was really happy with her results. I had previously spoken with Tony about fully bleaching my hair and came in for the service yesterday.
When I arrived, Tony actually brought me to a nearby spot, Graceful Hair Salon on Union Street, where he worked with another skilled colorist (unfortunately, I didnât catch his name). They both seemed very experienced and worked efficiently. They mostly spoke Chinese, so if you're an English speaker like me and enjoy chatting with your stylist or asking lots of questions, just keep in mind that communication might be limited. That said, I could tell they were confident in what they were doing so I trusted the process.
Tony was also super thoughtfulâhe brought me hot water since it was cold out, and even went out of his way to get me a bubble tea during the wait! The whole process took about 5 hours, including three rounds of bleach, toning, and a total of five washes. My hair was previously black with some highlights and had also been permed, but it was completely transformed by the end. He charged me $300 as we originally discussed, which I appreciated for the transparency.
I also brought my boyfriend to Bing Han B2 previously for a quick haircut from one of the ladies, which was only $15, and he was satisfied with it too.
Overall, I had a very comfortable experience and would definitely come back....
Read moreSearched for places to get a haircut in Flushing and came across Bing Han on Google Maps. A few reviewers say they've been coming here for years, and I indeed saw regulars during my visit who knew stylists by name, so I figured I was in good hands.
Walked in without an appointment and got paired with Tony as my stylist. He was friendly, and even though my Mandarin isn't the best, we had good, light conversation. He wasn't pushy at all, so it's saying something when he somehow ended up convincing me to get bangs and color my hair "milk tea" brown, when all I had in mind originally was a haircut. I appreciated how enthusiastic he was because it felt like he actually cared about what would look good on me, even showing me references on Xiaohongshu and respectfully commenting on how such and such would complement my face shape and complexion. I let him know my hesitations, since these were pretty big changes, and I'm relatively low-maintenance. He joked that he wouldn't charge me, if I ended up not liking it. His confidence was reassuring, and the end results speak to his skills (to the point where the other salon aunties were commenting on how nice it turned out).
Thank you...
Read moreI wouldnât recommend this place for a menâs haircut. I went in asking for a specific style, but the lady completely messed it up and gave me a totally different haircut. Thankfully, it wasnât terribleâbut it wasnât what I asked for either. The price was $9, and she insisted on taking a $2 tip, which felt forced.
I canât speak for other services, but this is definitely not the place to go for a menâs haircut. Look elsewhere, pay a little more, and avoid the regret. If you still choose to go, do so at your own riskâbut at least now youâve...
