I rarely leave reviews but after my horrible experience at the Madison Ave store I felt I had an obligation to inform potential customers, especially POC, of the treatment that they can expect. My salesperson was Anna G. I had purchased a pair of the Bottega Veneta Orbit sneakers/ walking shoe mid June of 2024 with a price tag of $1100. They were aesthetically pleasing and comfortable so made the purchase. Fast forward to three and a half months later. I was in NYC walking down the street on a slightly rainy day and noticed my right foot was wet. I looked down only to notice that the sole had separated from the front part of the shoe. ( see enclosed picture). I was in shock because I had only worn the shoes for three and and a half months. As a dentist I’m sitting most of the day so the shoe had limited wear. I immediately contacted Anna G at the Madison Ave store since I was only about 15 blocks from three store. Since she didn’t respond i decided to go in person to see if the situation could be resolved. I showed Anna G the tear in the shoe and she said the only solution was to send the shoe out for repair and that it could take up to 2 months. I was surprised to hear that they repaired sneakers. Leather shoes/jackets maybe but not sneakers. There was no mention of exchanging the shoe being that it only lasted for 3.5 months. At this point I was frustrated because I was leaving the country in a couple of weeks and had planned on wearing the shoe as I would be walking extensively. I inquired if there was a similar shoe I could purchase while the other pair was out for repair. Anna G said there was nothing in the Madison Ave store. She did find something in their store in the Short Hills Mall in Nj that I could purchase. I asked her if she could call the store before I drove over an hour in the rain to make sure they had the correct size. She did not. According to her search of their inventory they had my size. So I left trusting that my size would be there. When I arrived at the Bottega Veneta store in NJ they told me they DID NOT have have my size but they did have the same exact shoe that needed to be sent out for repair. Ashlyn, the salesperson at the Short Hills Store, was extremely professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. I asked if she could call the Madison Ave store to inquire about an exchange. Ashlynn was on the phone multiple times with Anna G and her manager trying to help me resolve the situation but to no avail. Unfortunately the Madison Ave store said that there would be no exchange. If I wanted another pair I would have to purchase another pair. Period. Despite the fact that the shoe only lasted several months with minimal wear. I would caution anyone to avoid these boutique stores and find an upscale mall. I will definitely not return to the Madison Ave store and will warn anyone to avoid shopping there....
Read moreI have just had a very humiliating experience at the Bottega Veneta store on Madison Avenue. I went to the store to buy a purse for my daughter who said the vibrant green bag was in her wishing list given her exceptional academic performance associated with her behavior and values, I was happy to surprise her first time with a designer bag she loved. Hence I believe that one has to work for this luxury things, not because I cannot afford it, but as part of the core values I raised my kids on "work for what you wish to have". At the store, I was greeted by a sales person who pleasantly showed me different models in the color she likes. I commented to him that it was my daughters first expensive bag, and that she had earned many academic awards, plus had done numerous good deeds, and she saw my new channel bag and she said Bottega Veneta was her dream bag, and I was very happy to surprise her with one for meritocracy with her 21 BD coming soon. Note, I ran to the store without changing my outfit as I wanted to surprise her before she left back to college. The seller additionally showed me also a beautiful dark green bag which I decided to buy for myself, making it two bags. I gave my Amex card to pay, and he asked for my ID. I said that had never happened to me before. He said there were too many fraudes in that specific area as many people wanted those bags and they were giving fake cards and everyone was requesting it around the area. I immediately remembered that I was dressed up very modestly, and had my mother with me dressed also in the same modest way, needless to say we are latin, short etc which I am proud of, but at that moment I completely understood I was seeing suspicious for the 2 bags. I immediately felt very bad almost in tears with his explanation as not later than a week ago, I went to the channel store across street- purchased a beautiful purse twice the price of those at Bottega (as I mentioned to the seller when we first met) and no one ever asked for my ID, although it was across street from where this store is located - In other words, "the area is requesting ID's" as he said, as the area had lots of fraudes especially people who wanted those bags, well, the area did not applied for the Channel store, hence I was dressed up a little better for the store visit then. I held the tears and returned the purchase feeling humiliated and to a certain extent discriminated. I called a friend from work who has a couple of bags from that store, she said it had never happened to her, even though on Xmas she was buying there- she seemed annoyed with it as well. I got home feeling very bad, without the bags and thinking on how the world is superficial and how one is judged for its appearance. I wish for this seller, he never has to go through this, especially...
Read moreI had the worst experience at this store today 4/21/22. I parked my car and proceeded to the store. The security (or whatever he is) told me it’ll be about a 5 min wait due to all the sales reps being with other customers. I told him I’ll wait and decided to stand in front of the store, but out the way of the sidewalk. An older white lady came and the security told her the same thing and she waited next to the store, leaning on the glass. 2 customers walked out and as I was getting ready to go to the door, the security let the white lady in. So I asked him “was I not here before her” he proceeds to tell me that he didn’t know I was still waiting which was a blatant lie because I was right in front of the store. He proceeded to tell me the line was where the lady was standing prior and that made no sense because he didn’t tell me where to stand nor did he tell me that the line starts in any particular place. This security guard was RACIST towards me and decided that the white lady takes precedence over me. It is truly sad that a sales rep lost a sale due to the behavior...
