This Duane Reade is the worst store I have ever visited and has to have the most unprofessional staff. Unfortunately I live up the block since I live with my elderly client I care for so am forced to visit this location. I am a Transgender Woman and deemed female by the state of NY and rarely have Transphobic Discrimination but earlier this year an employee downstairs in the pharmacy named Sage addressed me as "Sir" and Rick the attending Pharmacist was of no help so I contacted their regional manager who was extremely pleasant but needed to call a different location near Times Square to have their regional manager contact me since it's not listed and contacting Duane Reade corporate is a waste of time. Ever since this incident Sage has been sugar sweet and Rick and I only communicate on occasion. On 10-6-17 just after 8am I had an uncomfortable altercation with a register employee named Teddy Evans who tried to intimidate me that I believed he would strike me. I called Duane Reade corporate and spoke to Connie with reference number 07339231 who took down each detail numerous times as I kept repeating my terrible experience but nothing happened as this Duane Reade corporate operator left me a phone message a week later asking for more details, keep in mind that she had EVERY detail as I stated to her various times, and this Teddy Evans and Sage still are employed by Duane Reade. What's more terrible is that I complained to their manager Alex who seemed unbothered and annoyed. On 11-2-17 around 6:20-6:30pm I visited this location to pick up my client's medication since I had received various texts from this pharmacy but none gave which Prescriptions. Karen another Duane Reade employee gave me such a hard time that I began to record her and was verbally threatened by her which I have on video. Once again I complained to Duane Reade's managers Rhonda, Alex and another "manager" but evidently Karen still works at this location. Story plot is that this particular Duane Reade hires Transphobic unprofessional thugs with anger issues which put customers such as myself in danger and Duane Reade is doing nothing about their employee's behavior and evidently mismanaged due to current lack of management. It's a shame because this location is my client's pharmacy and not All Duane Reade employees are unprofessional except for the ones I spoke about. Read moreMy girlfriend asked a cashier to swap the Cliff bar flavour right after it was paid for. The cashier took the new bar and set it aside by mistake, while we replaced the unwanted bar to the shelf. We asked for the bar she held, and the cashier said she had another customer now and needed a moment. We said okay, but there was no other customer. There was another store employee in checkout queue and the cashier wanted to move on to her transaction, deliberately making us wait, refusing to simply give us the bar. (There was no more of this flavour available on the shelf). She finally gave it to us, with a condescending grin in a display of her arrogant miniature power, while other two employees winked and chuckled. This was a blatant manifestation of unfriendly exasperated attitude towards visitors in the city, all the while my girlfriend showed nothing other than her usual polite British reserve and composure. I recommend the management to have an attitude check of the store employees. Is it hard to find customer friendly team of cheerful and polite people these days? Winded up going to the Tsq location next to rise right after to see is this was a company wide problem. It wasn’t and the young lady knew exactly what to do but because of josh, my phone died so I had to come back yet again. All good because I don’t live too far. 5 stars for them.
I came back a second time the same day with a charged phone and the lady from last night was right but wasn’t there. BUT WAIT, some kid did the refund and I doubt he’s a manager. It was fast.
