I have been shopping here since the Essex market opened and I am so pleased with my purchases. I have needed to cook a few dishes that required a certain cut of meat and i feel like it was cut expertly, and even trimmed for me which made my task of making the meals much easier.The butchers are very knowledgeable. I had been very curious about this place for many years since I’m in the neighborhood tons. I picked up some chicken breast and it ended up being very very bad woody chicken breast (it was crunchy). Cash only, the chicken breast was $5.99 / lb, you would think a butcher would be able to tell it’s bad chicken breast and not sell it, right?
