Omg!!! I had a good time. I'm a regular visitor in koreantown but I'm embarrassed that I only discovered this place recently. Since it's literally close to my regular eateries. I stared off with the original korean hotdog which contained sausage and mozzarella cheese. Best decision!! It was so scrumptious I would have ditched on the other dishes but I had a plan. Next up, I ordered the marinated beef pocket buns and kimchi bun and was disappointed. Recently tried bao buns (pecking duck) for the first time and have been craving it so I was excited but that wasn't the case for either buns. I would admit I took a little while before eating it but the temperature wasn't the main problem. The kimchi bun was ...un-kimchi like tasting and soggy and the other literally fell apart. The onnly thing I enjoyed was the Shredded veggie on the pocket bun. I went ahead to order a bowl of cheese tteokbokki and sotteok sotteok (sausage rice cake skewer) I've wanted to try for so long and a winter melon green tea. I enjoyed them all. On the third floor I discovered the photo booth and had a good time for a first timer. The vibe on the third floor is different from the others. I got to enjoy my taro ice-cream (another first time experience) on the third floor while enjoying the gloomy view. Definitely coming back... soon! Got more cravings to satiate and more pic to take. Edit: I went 3 days in a row since I had so many things to try and craved. I missed out on the k-hotdog on the 2nd day but I got the custard cream fish shaped pastry and the everything kimbab. Damn the kimbab was SOO good (craving it rn) meanwhilethe pastry was alright. On the third day, I tried the potato and cheetos khotdogs and they didn't hit the spot like the first time. It was super greasy. Probably should have let it cool more. After that I tried the spicy noodles and beef platter alongside a taro slush. Taro is definitely a flavor that is growing on me. Overall I had an okay time. Nothing beats...
Read moreI used to come to this spot on and off for years, and I often considered this place to be suitable for anyone at any price range. Lately, a lot of prices have increased where sides have been removed and portions are smaller than what they offered before. I thought the point of reducing portions was to maintain low prices, but be warned, this is NOT the case here. A regular meal with no additions is $10+ and I would suggest y'all head to a Korean supermarket or Woorijip if you want a quick but cheap bite to eat. Why would anyone go there to spend $5 on a small-ish and flavorless steamed bun when they can go to Chinatown and get 3-5 buns with the same $5?
I recently stopped by Noona Noodles, since I enjoyed their kindness and decent soups/ramens/bowls over the years. I decided to try something different on a hot day.. ice noodles. I regret ordering that because the workers seemed overworked and disinterested in working, and because what I was served is nothing like the images on the menu. The broth literally had two large pieces of ice in it, like someone dumped two whole cups of shaved ice cones. You get the two thinnest pieces of beef possible (that seemed more like a garnish than actually part of the noodles) with only half of a hard boiled egg, and an ungodly amount of buckwheat noodles and radish. $13 that were wasted for something that was not worth $13 at all, and it did not taste fresh. If I'm paying a premium for something I could make home myself, I'm not coming back, most especially since the place is crowded...
Read moreThis is a review for the coin karaoke on the 3rd floor. There are 4 booths and it operates similar to coin noraebang in Korea. You pay in $5 or $10 bill increments. It is $30 for 1 hour of singing (cheaper than the bigger and better operated karaoke in the area). However, the microphones are terrible and pick up lots of feedback. The sound is not crisp or clear at all and the mics often cut out. Sometimes one of the two mics does not work at all. There are no covers for the microphones provided either, which is really unsanitary.
I have also had trouble using the bill payment machine. TWICE the machine has taken my bills and no added time was reflected on the screen. I had to call management and wait 20 minutes for someone to come both times. I was believed neither time that the machine had taken my money without adding time. It was only after pushing and insisting did a worker add time to my session.
Lastly, the remotes are a bit finicky and need to be pointed directly at the receiver in order for you to be able to type.
It’s the only coin noraebang in the area (someone please open a legitimate one…) so you get what you get and you don’t get upset. But this place is well overdue for a few improvements (replace mics with wireless ones or better corded ones; replace bill machine with credit card or QR payment system so there is a record of payment and adding time does not depend on how straight and unused the dollar bills are).
If you have to go to noraebang and this is...
