WARNING: DO NOT BUY CLUBS HERE!!!
Was excited to go here because Iâd heard good things from others. Was incredibly disappointed by the sales people. Waited literally over an hour and a half to be helped and there was only one other person being helped that whole time. Frank the sales guy was kind of a dbag. He told me to grab some clubs to try which was great and then said heâd help me in picking loft/stiffness based on my shots on the simulator when he was done with his customer. I took about 100 shots in the simulator (which was great) and was then ready to be helped and frank was done with his other guy. Then I stood around awkwardly for literally 45 minutes waiting for him to come back over, within sight of him, and he just stood there responding to emails in his desktop. Then he helped 2 other people before me. Thankfully some really tall guy recognized I wasnât being helped and stepped up. I had wanted to setup a fitting for irons as well and frank acted like it was some huge ask and basically just said no and he was too busy to help me even schedule something. It always blows my mind when a salesperson has zero interest in, you know, selling stuff. Like I want to give you my money, why would you turn someone away from that? Killer business strategy. Thatâs part 1. After tall guy helped me out (he was great) I went downstairs to grab some clothes. The lady down there kept telling me that I was grabbing the wrong size and that I shouldnât try other sizes that were smaller. Iâm 36 years old, I think I know how I want my clothes to fit, thanks very much. In the end I got what I was looking for as the stores selection is excellent, but it wasnât without a really awkward and bad experience with the sales people (props to tall guy though, he was cool). Maybe take care of your customers who came in person to shop with you as a higher priority than responding to emails in front of your in person customers acting like they donât exist. Definitely wonât be getting irons here, service is honestly better at golf galaxy and if you canât beat a big chain on service as a more boutique shop, youâre really just not trying. 2 stars for tall guy, negative stars for clothes woman and frank.
Update: this place is an actual scam. Tall guy said heâd set me up with a 10.5 loft and stiff shaft based on my swing. Just checked and naturally he actually gave me a 9.0 loft that is not regular size and not stiff. He couldnât find what I wanted in stock (he had to check upstairs and downstairs twice) and so I guess thought it would be ok to straight up lie to me and that I wouldnât notice. Made the mistake of not checking before I brought it home. Now I have to head back up to Manhattan to return my driver. Glad I checked before using the driver. I literally canât imagine a worse shopping experience.
Update 2: headed to Manhattan today to return my driver. Frank had seen this lovely review of f his poor salesmanship and told me to âenjoy golf galaxyâ on my way out the door and âdonât come back.â Imagine that, a customer calls you out for not doing your job and your response is to be passive aggressive with the customer instead of actually trying to correct the issue or be empathetic to awful experience they had. This place is stuck in the 1980s in terms of its sales staff and approach to customer service....
Read moreRound 1 - great service. We just purchased a set of ping clubs and Tyler Williams was amazing. We needed clubs that would help increase swing speed and also were longer than ladies standard by 0.5 inches.
Tyler quickly pointed out that the Ping G LE standard set comes 0.5 inches longer.
That was very helpful. And he was quick to answer any questions and very helpful at assessing whether or not we needed additional customization (which we didnât based on our swing)
Thank you Tyler for making our experience amazing. Wonât hesitate to come back if we need anything else!
Round 2 Great Service We recently went back to the New York Golf Center and was helped by Frank. We went in displeased with how quickly our travel bag had disintegrated. It is very difficult to find a travel golf club bag that is fit for travel. No-one wants to lug the regular travel bags around the world. The one that we purchased - we learned afterwards - was only meant for 'in car travel' - i.e. not for airline travel. We didn't know until we came back form our first trip to the Caribbeans where the bag did not hold up well. Which was unfortunate as we purchased two of them.
When we went back to the New York Golf Center - to see what we could do about our travel situation - FRANK was so kind and innovative! This place is not just 100% about making money (although it's important) but they really care about their customers. Frank helped us use 'Gorilla' tape to help tape up the bottom of our bag - which was good enough to at least help us last the season (making the value a little better than a single trip). We will be sure to come back for all future supplies.
One note: it would be great if the NY Golf Center could source a smaller airline approved travel bag (i.e. like the size we bought but a bit more rugged). It would have been perfect and we would pay a lot more to have a smaller bag. It is very creative to be able to put irons heads down and the woods/driver heads up.
p.s. we received at least 20 compliments while traveling overseas with such a tiny golf bag....
Read moreI walked in deciding that I wanted a new set (woods and irons) as my currents set is showing heavy wear and tear. I purchased 2 previous iron sets here before and numerous wedges, drivers and woods with custom shafts. It has been two years however last purchasing something at the store.
I introduced myself and asked for Hiroshi, witch is the salesman I used to deal with. I got funny looks and some laughter stating he left the place two years ago. But ok, don't know what happened so I spoke to one of the two sales people about some irons. I decided to play around with a Titleist D3 driver, a Miura iron, and a requested a AP2 iron as a friend of mine likes these.
I took the diver myself I got handed the Miura iron, and that was the complete extend of any customer service. The sales person took of, heavily texting to not return. Although while I was hitting balls I could hear him laughing and joking with a colleague downstairs.
I hit balls for 10 minutes before deciding to ask sales person #2 to get me the AP2. He went over to the rack, taped up a iron handed it to me and sat back down behind his computer. After 10 more minutes of playing with the clubs I decided to leave. There was no interest in any help, or selling some product.
I am sorry, but if I was in sales, and a customer would come by asking for a previous sales person. The least I would do is check for previous orders, and make sure this would become my customer. I dropped in excess of $10k there and was planning to make a other large purchase. Deciding to go the online route however.
And they wonder why store fronts are not surviving.
P.S. I did not get any names of the sales people on the floor as they did not introduce themselves. Worst offender was sporting plenty of Tattoos and was on the shorter side with a full beard. ( No i do not have anything against Tattoos, I have some myself. This is to identify my sales...
