I purchased my head extreme tourlite pickleball paddle about five weeks ago. With taxes, it cost about $138.00. Recently, I saw the same paddle for half the price when I did a Google search. Clearly I overpaid for it. While the sales person was knowledgeable about the performances of racquets and paddles, it was his job to sell. Before purchasing from them do your research online. It will save you MONEY!!!!
I just read the storeās reply to my post, and Iām responding: they stated that a reputable store doesnāt sell counterfeit goods and I would agree with that. However, I saw the paddle being offered at target. When I initially decided to purchase a paddle, I didnāt have a specific brand in mind. First I went to paragon because it was closer to where I live. Once there, I was informed that I had just missed the sale which happens during the first week of September. Knowing that I needed a paddle for a class that I had just started, I continued on to the next store on my list. The sales consultant told me that they were not allowed to put the paddles on sale until the manufacturer of the paddle gave them permission to do so. I took him at his word. When I got to my class later that week, one of the students asked if I had googled my paddle for the best price. I told him how I came to purchase it. He suggested that I Google it now and I did, at that point I saw it for almost half price at target. On the receipt it clearly stated that once the paddle had been removed from its casing, it was no longer returnable. So I continued with my class. It had been removed from the casing and I was in the process of removing the storeās tag! The moral of this story is: once you are in a store and told that the price is fixed by the manufacturer, and canāt be changed without their approval, immediately Google the item to see if a āreputableā dealer is offering it at a lower price! That will save you from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy first shopping experience was great. The counter staff was very friendly and answered all my initial questions. I left after trying out a pickleball paddle, which I eventually purchased along with the Mizuno Wave Exceed Light tennis sneakers.
Fast forward three months, and I found that the soles of both shoes were extremely worn out. This made it difficult for me to play on the indoor courts that I usually go to. If you're looking to buy tennis shoes, be aware that Mizuno does not accept warranty claims for this model. If I had known this beforehand, I would have chosen differently.
I had to call the store three times over two weeks to resolve the issue. This was after being told by Mark that he would follow up with me after speaking to their Mizuno rep. He relayed that the shoe's durability should not be expected because the word "light" is in the name. This implies that the shoe will wear out quickly.
I then had a conversation with the owner, who told me that their rep never said this. I wasn't sure who to believe, as it seems like the store associate might have made it up. I was also informed that it is store policy for customers to ask which shoes are covered by warranty. This was strange, as my prior conversation with Mark was adamant that he told all customers that these specific shoes were not covered by warranty (which was not my experience).
I am giving stars because of the positive initial experience, but I have to deduct them due to the conflicting responses I received. I also didn't appreciate the snark and sarcasm when the store employee suggested that maybe I was an intense athlete, causing the shoes to wear out quickly. The owner's solution was for me to come back to the store and try on Prince tennis shoes, which may be better suited to my needs. This made me wonder if there is something wrong...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI first went to NYC Racquet Sports because it was listed as a dealer at the Babolat website. That's when I met Woody. Woody took the time to learn about my playing and what I was attempting to accomplish as a tennis player. He gave me valuable information about my racquet and other upcoming new products. I left with the conviction that I had met a store owner who is passionate about tennis and the industry. Most importantly, Woody values his relationship with clients more than making a sale. A few weeks later when the strings on my Babolat broke, I went back to NYC Racquet Sports. Woody immediately tended to my racquet and re-strung it. His recommendations were precise and accurate. The racquet feels better than when I originally purchased it. Woody gave me suggestions for my second racquet that were āright on target.ā I enjoy shopping at a store where the products are displayed in an organized fashion and are not just randomly displayed. NYC Racquet Sports is a store that is clean and pleasant. There is room to browse and evaluate the products. One can count on courteous assistance from a staff of experts. The prices are competitive. NYC Racquets Sports "is all of that and more". I have been encouraging all of my tennis friends to "Go see Woody" with the confidence that they will have an enjoyable experience and will be well taken care of. JT,...
