We came here for dinner after a show in the city and while the reviews looked promising, our experience from the second year sat down was not that great. There were two tables that sat well after us one of them at least 10 minutes after us and they had their orders taken Before they even brought us water, we had a party of four another one of those parties was two and another one was a party of four. Then when we asked if we could place our order to a woman came there who was not a waitress, and she took our order, scribbled it on a piece of paper and we ordered some appetizers and then some sushi and some hot meals, the appetizers came out when all the food was done After we asked where they were three separate times, And we were just told they’re coming. And then it got a little bit worse because my meal just never came out and then when I asked where it was, he said they were preparing it. 15 minutes passed I asked where it was and he said oh what did you order, I said a chicken yaki udon no broccoli, they came out with the wrong meal, a chicken ramen soup, and then they put it in front of me and I said that’s not what I ordered and the woman who took my order confirmed that I was not ordering a soup, but I was ordering noodles with chicken and veggies. The waiter didn’t really understand so he went to the front got who I believe was the manager to come back and I told her just forget it. My whole family has already eaten 30 minutes ago. I’ve patiently waited for my food after asking for it three times and it never came. Can you just remove it off the bill and give me the bill so I can leave and I will eat at home. The woman was very apologetic and asked me if I wanted a free chicken or free shumai and I said no I missed the opportunity to eat with my family through there really is no point for them to watch me sit here and eat and for me to have to wait longer for my food. She took 10% off of my bill, which is probably the least she could’ve done and I paid the meal and I still tipped 20% probably not the greatest idea but they definitely did not deserve that for the service that was we received. Now the food that my wife and my kids had they liked, but unfortunately poor Service Destroyed my entire experience here. I hate giving bad reviews, but this one...
Read moreI had dinner plans with a friend on a Thursday night and needed a restaurant that was close to Penn Station. Sushi and ramen are usually crowd-pleasers, and I had this place on my bookmark so I thought, why not? We came in at around 6 (no reservations), and the place was already pretty packed. Plus, the layout of the tables has a weird set up, so it's probably not the most efficient use of space. Still, we were seated immediately.
To start, we had some chicken karaage from their happy hour menu. It wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either. It was a bit over-fried. For the main, we decided to order a bunch of rolls to share: the Napoleon Roll (Inside Spicy tuna, soft shell crab, mango & avocado, topped with lobster salad and jalapeno), the Lady Gaga (Shrimp Tempura, Eel, Avocado, Top W. Spicy Tuna, Spicy Tuna, Tobiko, Crunchy, Soy Bean Paper & Mango Sauce), tuna avocado roll, and a salmon roll. The two special rolls tasted pretty similar. In fact, I couldn't really tell the difference between the two. There was just too much going on. I preferred the basic rolls over these. Not enough for me to come back though. Maybe their ramen is better? Either way, I don't think I'll be back - my stomach felt a bit funny afterwards so I'm not sure if it was the sushi or something I ate earlier.
Tip - happy hour til 7. But don't get any of the cocktails. It's pure sugar. I couldn't even finish the Tokyo...
Read moreOne of my all time favorite ramen and sushi places! I don’t know why there aren’t many ramen and sushi combo places but there are even fewer places that can do both sushi and ramen well. I admit that I am very picky when it comes to sushi and ramen so I was extremely surprised when I loved both the flavorful ramen as well as the fresh sushi. I’ve been here multiple times but this is my first review. Honestly, I think at this point, I’d recommend all their ramen and all of their sushi.
This time around, I ordered the spicy tonkotsu shoyu and the Viking roll. Both were incredible. The ramen broth was not too heavy or thick like some tonkotsu broths can be and the noodles were the perfect thin texture (but you can customize to your liking). The meat was tender and there were enough toppings to make me happy. The Viking roll had a few different kinds of fish and the crunch inside brought texture to the roll. The variety of fish was super fresh tasting and melted in my mouth. The mango roll was good too but the Viking roll was spectacular. The gyoza were very standard (though I would not order again).
This is a very small establishment so come early or expect a wait. Also, the eating time is 90 minutes because it is so small and so many people want to eat here but the food comes out amazingly quick and hot so don’t worry about the time. It’s definitely worth a try if you are...
