When I first stepped foot in this establishment circa 2002, after having my first pupusa I immediately fell in love with this place. The taste is authentically Salvadorian, the food is exquisite, and the service is excellent! The staff treats me like family and I find myself there two to three days out of the week, despite having relocated our law practice twice! There's no question that this restaurant is my go-to place for a lunch special, dinner and sometimes just to take a breather.
The owners, Luis, Felix and Carlos, are a band of brothers who started with an idea and made this place the go-to spot that it is today. On the weekends it gets pretty busy; the mark of an excellent restaurant that can serve its clients well! I highly recommend that anyone come here to eat, no matter what time of the day it is. Whether it's just pupusas with cheese and loroco or a typical Salvadorian dish with it's thin-cut steak with the typical Salvadorian goodies (refried beans, sour cream, sweet plantains, etc.), you will fall in love.
And for dessert... Tres Leches. It's a must. Take it from someone who has been coming here for the past decade plus: this place is well worth the commute from the Financial District. I stake my...
Read moreDecent Pupusas, not the best or even top 5. The revueltas had way more beans and cheese than chicharron, not balanced. Calamari good, the sauce was especially good, probably best taste of everything. Tamales de elote were bland and the horchata was ONLY available with water, no milk option, which makes for a very watery tasting drink, especially when u add ice on top. Staff was nice, waitress nice but u don't get the warm and welcoming fuzzies when u walk in at all and mind u, we were the only people there. You'd think we'd crack a few half smiles at least. Definitely need to pick up their game, especially these days when customer flow isn't what it used to be. Would still recommend to anyone looking for a quick local bite, but for a great dining experience, I'd suggest a cpl other spots instead. Far from terrible, just not great. Us Salvis are picky with our...
Read moreI did not have a pleasant dining experience at this restaurant. I will give them credit, their papusas are alright and if you choose to dine here, do order some. My first gripe is their skirt steak. This would be the 2nd time ordering that item. I thought I would give them a chance. Even though I ordered medium rare it came out medium well. Extremely chewy. My main gripe is how long it takes to prepare food and serving food. Most people know it's just good etiquette to wait for everyone's food before "breaking bread." Not at Bahia. My plate was the first to come out. 10 Mins later was my girlfriends. 10 Mins later was my brothers. 20 Mins later finally came out my mothers soup. At no time did the waitress stop by our table to let us know the status or the holdup. Again, if you feel like having papusas come here. Other then that choose a better...
