I would give it 4.5 stars if I could (just shy of 10 out of 10). I moved into Riverbank in 2021 and have since left on amicable terms. The efficiency and professionalism of the staff made the experience quite good. For example, I received my security deposit back timely. I have high praise for the front desk and doormen (especially Tony) who made the home feel pleasant and welcoming at all times. Such friendly people who deal well with all of the random contingencies of New York city all the time. (free coffee in the morning is also a plus)
Positives: These are well-kept, modern spacious apartments with great views of the Hudson River and Hudson Yards. The balconies that you can go out on are an added bonus and quite a treat in Manhattan. Guests will certainly be impressed during visits to your home. Utilities worked well and repairmen were timely and productive whenever there was an issue. The amenities are great as well. I have many cherished memories of the game room with ping pong, pool, shuffleboard, etc. The exercise room is also great, convenient and well VENTILATED (important vs. many other apartment buildings). Lastly this is a nice and safe area far enough away from the bustle and dirtiness of Times Square. Runs along the water are great during the summer.
Negatives (admittedly many out of control for the staff): You have to have a decent noise tolerance. There is a fire department a block away from the apartment so do not be surprised to hear blaring sirens at any time randomly. I was more than 20 stories above the ground and it was still common to have people I was speaking on the phone with comment on relatively consistent sirens. We're also right next to the Lincoln Tunnel so around rush hour with angry New Yorkers you can guarantee that there will be honking and yelling at times. This was never that much of an issue for me, but this is definitely not the most quiet apartment in Manhattan. Bring earplugs if you are a sensitive sleeper. I will say though that the noise control between neighbors is good. The distance from public transport is also not fun. It's nice to be far from Times Square, but that also means no subway nearby. The M42 bus will likely be your friend and there is a shuttle to GC. A nitpick, but no free electricity or internet. I understand that a business needs to make money but the free internet for a period of time was a great bonus that sadly no longer exists. The last negative is unfortunately many of the other tenants. Just spend a few hours in the main lobby and you'll seldomly see older residents or people with families. This feels like a college dorm sometimes with all the unpleasantries of immature, naive, entitled children who are of legal drinking age. Things happen all the time in this building that should NOT be occurring in a place where adults supposedly live. Cigarettes (smoking is banned by the way) flung on other tenants' balconies. Game equipment like shuffleboard discs is randomly stolen all the time. Immensely inebriated people coming home late in scantily clad clothing complaining about the ethnicities of their uber drivers. Wet clothes constantly being left in the laundry and never picked up causing other tenants to have to wait to use the machines. Are people really that obnoxiously wealthy they can afford to just leave clothes there for days? I could go on, but the point has been made. It seems like this is a premier destination for elite college graduates who are being overpaid and want to "live it up" in the city without much care or attention to the fact that they share this planet with other human beings. The majority of tenants are great, but the negative minority is palpable and noticeable.
Summary: This is great building with professional staff and amenities. I don't like some of the neighbors, but I don't need to. The biggest takeaway from this review is that I would consider coming back in the future. Rents are too expensive right now in the area though due to inflation so maybe one day far from now. Thanks for an excellent...
Read moreMoving to Riverbank was the best decision that I've made in 2018. I couldn't possibly be happier to call this building home! As others have mentioned, the negative ratings relate to a previous management. Living at Riverbank ROCKS and here's why I was inspired to write such a long review:
Any review of Riverbank has to start with the warmth, passion, and friendliness of the entire staff. The team welcomes you home with a smile and you can tell that they truly enjoy being an integral part of the experience. This attitude is evident beginning with your initial conversations with Jorge, Imeh, Laura and the leasing team. The positives feelings continue through your interactions with the concierges, maintenance, and valet services! Together, they somehow manage to turn a forty-story tower into an intimate home. Many of the staff have been here for years and they're the main reason that I'm compelled to write this review.
Move-in was a breeze, balconies are wow, and the construction quality is solid. I love cooking, baking, hosting friends. If you're lucky enough to have a north-facing view then you're in for a special surprise as the ships, sunrise/sunset, and open skyline never get old! Residents at Riverbank - of both the two and four-legged variety - are friendly and social. Folks here say hello to each other in the elevators, invite you to game watch-parties in the atrium, and are quick to share a laugh. It's like having all the warmth of a Cheers episode without the cheesy lines or Boston! Folks here come from all walks of life, professions, countries, and are happy to connect and share local tips. Plus they are genuinely good people. Makes it nice to come home.
Solid construction means not hearing your neighbors through paper-thin walls/floors. Need something fixed but hate talking to people? Just go ahead and request a fix through the in-building app. You'll receive updates and have everything fixed in no time. I've put in requests for the A/C unit (1 hour), hallway light (maybe 10 minutes), and toilet (mentioned late at night and fixed the next morning before 8am). Great maintenance crew! You'll never have to wait long for the elevators and the building has recycling facilities that are easy to use.
The amenities are great. Our pool has an outdoorsy and secluded feel to it, and I've never had to share a lane. The gym, dance/yoga room, in-house laundry, and sauna are nice perks as well. The conference rooms are a great place to work from or to hold a private event. The hot desks and sofas are also super helpful for those of us who work from home.
Riverbank organizes events, wine mixers, bbq parties, yoga classes, and parties. The amenities and events help build community. I'd like to also mention the valet service here in the building that handles laundry, dry-cleaning, package delivery, and apartment cleaning. Ceci and Andy are terrific and have bailed me out of many binds. Cleaning services are reliable and thorough, and I can't overstate the relief of not having to deal with package delivery to a walk-up apartment. Also, laundry service is quick, reliable, and cheap.
The building, apartments, amenities, neighborhood, and team at Riverbank have turned my entire year around. It feels like home, neighbors are friendly, no weirdos, and a better location than you would first guess. Some units are undergoing construction but that shouldn't impact your choice. I work from home and need near-silence. No issues yet! Management always lets us know about upcoming work schedules, and has done a great job of picking hours of construction that minimize impact upon residents. If you really do need a co-working spot, there are several nearby.
Come say hey when you move in! Looking forward to meeting you and grabbing a beer in the...
Read moreMy husband and I have lived in Riverbank for over 3 years. We started in a non-renovated studio and then moved to a beautiful renovated studio when all renovations were complete and new management took over. We love this building! I was really moved to write this review after amazing resident support recently due to covid. But our experiences have always been pretty positive prior to covid too. My husband and I both have to work/study from home for the unforeseeable future due to covid, and we desperately needed a one bedroom apartment and not be cramped in a studio with both of us and our two dogs (even though the studios are quite spacious). All the staff at Riverbank, especially Jorge in leasing, have been so accommodating and welcoming from the beginning. When we were considering moving out only because we needed to find a more affordable one-bedroom, leasing at Riverbank worked strongly with our budget and needs right now with covid so that we could stay here and continue to live at Riverbank. We are now moved in and extremely happy in our beautiful and spacious one bedroom. Also, Riverbank has been extremely accommodating such as working with us on fees and security deposit, and even quickly accommodated our request for a new shower head when we preferred our previous one from our studio. When we arrived to our one bedroom (and our previous studios as well) the apartments have always been completely cleaned and looking brand new. Also must mention that all of the staff in the building especially all of the doormen/women are always so welcoming, helpful, and courteous. I've gotten to know all the staff very well, and they always make my day coming home after a long day. I'm just extremely impressed and grateful by everyone in leasing and the staff as a whole at Riverbank that I felt compelled to write a strong review. The newly renovated apartments are absolutely gorgeous, maintenance staff is always quick and courteous, the amenities are all amazing which include a gym, pool, lounge area, terrace, spa-type locker room, etc. And the building is pet friendly and everyone loves our dogs! And most importantly, my husband and I always feel safe and welcome. I highly recommend anyone should consider living here and call...
