Adam, the owner, demonstrated exceptional customer service & further resolved my issue, prompting me to adjust my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. However, I want to elaborate on the original issue because the oversight (about $200) from a senior stylist is very unexpected.
~I visited for a hair appointment with Kyle, which totaled over $500 including tip. I usually go to more affordable places, so I admittedly wasn’t familiar with salon prices. It turned out that I was charged for services (partial foil) not received. Kyle instructed the receptionist on what to charge. He should have known not to charge for partial foil when no highlights or bleaching was performed.
When informed of the issue, Kyle was apparently apologetic (he was not in when I went back to resolve the issue so I did not directly communicate with him), and new information confirmed that he offered to refund part of the gratuity. Mistakes happen.. However, I do also want to make known that Kyle asked me questions regarding where I normally get my hair done, specifically what salons I’ve gone to before/ how often, etc.

Read moreI have been a faithful client of American Mortals since 2014. I first went to AM as I was starting chemotherapy and I needed to cut my always long hair super short as my hair was starting to fall out due to the cancer treatments. Nicole handled me with care and grace and made me feel so comfortable as I was going through a very difficult time in my life.
Fast forward to remission where my hair was finally growing back and my newly grown hair was in desperate need of a cut and color. Rachel K was my stylist/colorist and I am in love with the care and skill she has when it comes to my hair. She routinely takes my naturally black Asian hair and gives me the ashy blonde look I crave all while making sure my hair remains healthy and grows in well in between our appointments. I now live in the Catksills and drive back to Philadelphia to see her.
The staff at AM is professional, pleasant and they always give great style inspiration. They also have made me feel super comfortable with their safety standards during the pandemic. I highly recommend anyone at this salon but especially Nicole and Rachel! You...
Read moreI had an appointment at 5pm. I'm a nurse practitioner and had just worked three night shifts in a row. I woke up around 4:30pm and immediately called the salon to tell them that I will be running late. They asked at what time will I be there. I stated 10-15 min late. I get to the salon at 5:20pm. The salon then calls me and tells me they can't take me anymore because "You said 10-15 min and it's now 5:20pm". They also charged me $50 for a "no call no show" even though I in fact did show and did have the courtesy to call them 20 minutes prior to my haircut to tell them I am running late. American mortals is not worth your time or money. They act so elitist, but clearly have poor business practices, are not trained on proper customer service, and lack sympathy. If the fact that I was going to be 15-20 minutes late would consider me a no call no show, they could have just cancelled me when I called at 4:30pm.
