I scheduled my visa appointment using the online portal and followed up with a voicemail to confirm. When I arrived at the Nepal Consulate Office in Seattle, Mr. A.C. Sherpa was not there. He called me to say he was picking up his child from school (at 11 AM), and I ended up waiting over 90 minutes. He repeatedly justified the delay by saying he is doing this “on a volunteer basis,” even though he charges significantly more than the standard Nepal visa fees.

I initially let it go, but a coworker recently shared a nearly identical experience. She also had to wait about an hour while he claimed to be picking up his child from school during her scheduled appointment. This seems to be a recurring issue.

In hindsight, it is far easier and cheaper to get a visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport. The extra fees, the back-and-forth drive, and the long, uncertain wait at Mr Sherpa’s office make this option more frustrating and expensive than it is worth. I would recommend avoiding this...

I highly appreciate Honorary Consul of Nepal to Seattle Mr. AC Sherpa for his outstanding customer service. I drove all the way down from Portland, Oregon to get Nepali Visa for my wife. Though it was weekend he received my call, and gave an appointment to issue visa in my request. When we got his office building, and gave him a call.
