Hands down the worst Indian/Pakistani/Middle eastern store in the area. The owner and the employees act as if they are doing a favor to the customers. I had multiple bad interactions with the employees and the ownership. On one occasion, an employee told me that I should have read the product description carefully just because I picked up the wrong item and realized it only at the counter. On a different occasion, they refused a refund on an unopened item that I had just bought, took it out of the store and realized it was rancid stating their new no-refund policy during covid. The item was priced $4, so I just threw it away but the way they treated me was horrible - as if I was stealing from them by trying to do a return. They jacked up the pricing of everything during the pandemic shutdown.
I have lived in the area for multiple years, and this is the only store where I have had such horrible experiences. Fortunately, there are enough alternatives around the area that I have stopped shopping at this...
Read morePlease check the expiry dates before taking items. Just bought 2018 mfg year, old rusk from Laxmi brand which expires today. Noticed just now when we opened it. That's my mistake as it looked fresh didn't bother to check expiry date. Same with few other items - grated coconut , biscuits . Made a note myself to check expiry date before taking items out. It's never expired products but old stock which expires soon.
Mutton is OK these days. Over charging for few items like pearl onion.
Bought pickles- came home - it expires in August 2022 in 3 months. It was an old stock which was kept back to the shelf. ONCE again it looked brand new and was not there during my previous visit- I didn't bother to check the date. Bought ladies finger found 8-9 unusable ones .Does any one else find it like that?
The reason why we still go to shalimar is it's the closest. Buy things at your own risk.
This shop gives me reasons to stop going there every single time,I wonder why...
Read moreI’ve visited the Shalimar store many times in the past and have had a positive experience however I wanted to warn others of the Alphonso mangoes ($50/box) I purchased recently, all being rotten.
I purchased this box in May 2024. The mangoes looked fine on the surface however every single mango in the box (12x) were rotten from the inside and not edible. I called the store to inform them and requested a refund/ store credit however was rudely told that only exchange for other mangoes was possible. This would’ve been a pointless exercise as other mangoes in the batch would also likely be rotten. I was also told by the owner that she had already removed four boxes worth of rotten mangoes from their display and insisted that all the mangoes that I bought could not have been rotten. She’d even challenged me to come into the store and cut one open in front of her.
Attaching photos/video of every mango in the box. Avoid purchasing these mangoes from Shalimar,...
