Worst Recruiting Firm I have ever delt with. Very unprofessional, not honest, direct or transparent. I began the hiring process back in April of 2018 and met with 3 Hiring managers and over 8 Recruiters. Not one Recruiter has placed me at a job or adequately interviewed me for an internal position. I spoke with the Talent Acquisition manager at my interview and she was very rude about me asking about the culture. I have done the research on the firm and she said the following:
"The first is why you are interested in Betts Recruiting and how much research you have done on the company. We have really developed our business as culture-strong and it very apparent from our website and our reviews on Yelp, Google, etc. the type of culture that we have built. I can anticipate questions about our culture in the interview but I am looking for a deeper question than "Tell me about your culture" to show that the candidate has done research and is able to share how they align or are able to contribute."
She did not listen to my question and misunderstood the context. She failed to recognize my passion and desire to work for the company. I wanted to know her opinion about what she thinks the culture is like. Not what Google, Facebook and other websites say. The internet can't tell you everything about the organization. The reason why I said I was interested in Betts was my passion for helping others succeed, and I admired working in tech.
Another thing that upset me about the experience was the next statement she said which is the following:
"The 2nd is why sales? Like we discussed yesterday, recruiting for an agency is a sales role. I did not get the impression from our conversation that this was landing for you and the direction in which you were interested to take your career. My advice going forward would be to make sure you have done a ton of research on the company and design questions for the interviewer rooted in your research. I have also attached our Interview Handbook which we share with all of our candidates"
It was like she wasn't present in my interview . I said I wanted to pursue sales to challenge myself in my career and obtain vital life skills. I also mentioned the pillared values of Betts and still got turned down for the job.
Most recently I sent them an email and never received a response. I am never going to apply to this agency again. They have failed to treat me fairly. I have done everything to improve my candidacy only to be ignored and given false hope. I even went to events, and they remembered me. Their New York Recruiter called me and put me through the motions. Then I got ghosted because I interviewed 5 months before. Even with 6 months of Sourcing experience, I was discriminated against. Nothing stings more and I still to this day I don't understand why I was rejected for this role. This proves they are not my agency and don't care for their clients. I no longer want to work for them due to their lack of I integrity and honesty. They are the worst at responding to their candidates and actually calling...
Read moreMy recruiter, Taylor Harrower, reached out to me via LinkedIn. Before talking with Betts, I had very little intention of moving jobs, but my initial conversation with Taylor helped to inspire a potential career change.
Before coming to me with companies to make introductions with, Taylor took a consultative approach, first asking me what I wanted in a new role and company. He then took the time to do his research, returning to me with a list of companies that matched with my interests and my career goals.
Throughout the interview process, Taylor was helpful with fielding requests and questions that I had going into each interview. Betts has an extensive repository of information regarding likely interview questions based on the company, the interviewer and the stage of the interview process a candidate finds him/herself in. Before each interview, Taylor set aside some time to go over what could potentially go down in the meeting. He was always very thorough and prompt.
For my onsite interviews, Taylor and Betts were especially accommodating. They gave me the option of coming into their office to hold a mock interview on two different occasions. This commitment speaks volumes about Taylor's unsurpassed investment in his candidates.
If you're in sales and marketing and are thinking about, or actively looking for a new career opportunities at an innovative, high-growth startup, then look no further than Betts Recruiting. In total, it took me just under three weeks to find a new job, from my initial conversation with Taylor to the day I received my offer letter. I would highly recommend approaching Betts Recruiting to help you with your career and job search, and hopefully you'll be able to work with a recruiter just as attentive, professional, friendly, helpful and insightful as Taylor.

Read moreI was working at a large Software company in the bay but wanted to move to a smaller high growth and aggressive company. I reached out to betts and was setup with Megan Johannes. I cannot overstate how quickly the process was after our initial meeting and how dedicated and responsive Megan was throughout the process.
I had a varied background that did not meet some of the normal standards companies look for but she took the time to speak with me and get an understanding of my skillset and not just go off my paper resume. She listened to my interests and set me up with about 5 companies virtually immediately. By comparison I was working with a recruiter from another firm at the same time and she only got me one interview and did not prep me (or the company) for it at all. Every company I met with through betts had already been briefed on who I was, what my strengths and weaknesses were, and why I might be a good fit for them.
Within 14 days flat of meeting her I had 2 (high paying) offers from great companies that were then competing for my services. I also was in various stages of interviews with other companies that I had to turn down. The most difficult part of the process was telling one of my potential managers that I had chosen another offer.
My only caution about working with betts is that you need to really be ready to make a move when you call. The companies they work with are motivated to hire fast and the recruiters get you to decision makers from the first step of the process, there are no games played, corporate red tape or posturing once they decide they...
