Been living here for 4+ years. Pros: Really convenient location. I like that it’s walkable to a QFC, multiple bus stops, Seattle Center, and of course South Lake Union. So many fun things around. Right off of I-5. Price was really reasonable compared to all the apartment building around. We live in a one bedroom and the price is awesome for the space that we have which is ~750 sq. No noise – from outside or inside. Never had a noise issue even with construction around because we live on the inside courtyard area so we are protected. Definitely appreciate this location. Guest parking – you can get 1 out of the 2 parking passes they have for guest overnight parking, first come first serve. No bugs! I feel like that could be a real issue in some places and I’m happy to say we are bug and critters free. Maintenance Staff is great – I’ve known the maintenance staff old and new and they’ve all been great. They take care of tickets really quickly and have always been friendly and helpful.
Cons: It’s an older building compared to the ones around. The kitchen appliances are pretty basic, no stainless steel ones. I feel like this also means the amenities are older – there’s a small basic gym downstairs, 2 grills on the roof that work OK but not great, lounge has no windows on the 1st floor (good space but nothing fancy). Rooftop could use a facelift. Broken elevator – the back elevator is almost always broken. It feels like it’s on its last leg all the time. Sometimes it’s down for months at a time. Sometimes it gets fixed and then one day later, it’s broken again. Crime – unfortunately, this is the main thing that has brought down my star rating. This building has been hit multiple times by theft. A few years ago, it started with car break in’s in the garage because our gate to the garage is super old and slow. Now they have a security company monitoring the garage at some points so it’s better but it definitely happened previously. Most recently, they did some renovations in the hallways and had to open up all the storage units to paint the doors. Unfortunately they did not secure the open doors and of course people stole things from storage units and broke locks here and there. I was one of the victims and lost over $1000 in lost items. Thank goodness for renter’s insurance. Neptune though was no help at all and their insurance refused to admit fault (even though it was 100% their fault) so they fought with my insurance company and now my insurance premium is way up because of this incident even though it wasn’t my fault at all that my stuff was stolen under their watch! I think in times of crisis, you really see a company’s true colors and sadly Neptune did not show much care for their residents.
Overall, it’s been a nice place to live up until the burglary this year. (Probably would've been 5 stars before the incident). I think after experiencing that, no matter how much I liked it before, it’s definitely hard to sign a lease for another...

(1) Management is shady, if not fraudulent. When my wife and I moved out we received very sparsely worded "estimates" of the cleaning and repair bills we would be responsible for, despite the fact that my wife and I scrubbed the entire apartment from top-to-botttom before moving out. All that was listed on the general cleaning bill was $130.00. That's it. No further explanation of charges. When I tried to contact the "business" who allegedly drafted the "estimate," no one answered. When I looked up the "business" online, it showed the address belongs either to an apartment or an unnamed spot in a strip mall in Everett. Which one is not entirely clear. The carpet cleaning "estimate" of $245.00 is also egregious. They told us when we moved in that they had just installed brand new carpeting. Yet after one year it requires $245.00 in cleaning?? I can personally attest to their not being a single stain anywhere. It's also telling that out of our $750.00 deposit, they conveniently tabulated charges (again, unsubstantiated) that amounted to all but $37.00 of that. Just enough to almost make you appreciate them when you get a check in the mail, until you actually think about it a bit more.
(2) Management is also severely incompetent. On multiple occasions, multiple residents contacted mgmt about unaddressed issues with property cleanliness (see below). Never once did they address it by any means other than meaningless emails. No active measures were ever attempted to address the filth of the property. No doggie DNA. No attempts to hold people accountable. Just empty listserve threats.
(3) The cleanliness of the place is horrendous. Cardboard boxes and recycling bags pile up in the trash rooms because tenants are too lazy to carry their own waste downstairs where it belongs. Dog poop is everywhere on the rooftop. Dog poop is all around the sidewalks by the entrances to the building. And dog poop is even in the carpeted hallways. Yes, on more than one occasion, I had to dodge piles of dog poop in the hallway.. (see photo).
I could go on and on about the loud and disrespectful tenants, but I understand that is not the fault of the property and has more to do with the changing neighborhood. Bottom line, this was a terrible place to live even for a year. Before moving to Seattle from the other coast I called around to learn more about different properties in the city before we moved here, and I recall distinctly speaking to a _ firm who told me to stay far away from this property and real estate agency I wish I would have...
Read moreElevators keep breaking down, one has been broken for two and a half months and management just say they are working to fix it. Office does not accept oversized packages, they get left the lobby area causing trip hazard. In fact, they don’t accept any packages, so if the lockers get full, good luck with passing safely to the elevator. Likely it will be broken so you will have to go around the building to find a working one, so you may avoid the trip hazard this way. Things just break here or are in the constant state of repair like entertainment room, or printer run out of toner weeks ago. You may be lucky to get towels in the gym, but don’t count on it, bring your own. Management does not reply to emails, if they do, it is so aggressive, don’t even bother, save yourself some frustration. Oh, and if you have visitors you better tell the office in advance, otherwise you can’t park the car, because you get a ticket. They often close the office with no or short notice or have some temporary staffing and they don’t know how to issue a parking permit anyway, so tell your friends to take uber. There is also a community of homeless people around the corner, so don’t walk at night. Occasionally some drunk people on the street cause a lot of noise and break glass in the middle of the night. If you are working, you better have coffee stashed in your kitchen for the morning after one of those nights. It used to be a nice place to live, since the new management took over a few months ago it gets worse every month. I am counting my days to the end...
