Café Hagen - Dexter — Restaurant in Seattle

The ambience is modern and masculine with elements of warmth in the brown leather seats and many plants on the walls. A chill vibe and they were even playing some of my favorite indie music. The baristas were friendly, professional, and they even delivered my order to my table rather than just calling it out.

I tried the breakfast bun with egg, havarti, and arugula. The cheese is a prominent flavor but not overwhelming and bun was light and airy. I love anything with arugula but I would have liked to taste the egg more. I had an 8oz decaf cappuccino with whole milk; the mouth feel was smooth and silky and they did better latte art than I can do.

They had a large and unique pastry selection; I tried the kouign amann and though I can’t pronounce it, it was simply scrumptious. Similar to a croissant but with denser, sweeter layers of lighter and more moist pastry with some crispy edges of caramelized sugar. I love to pull things apart with my fingers and this is a perfect pastry for that, though my fingers did end up deliciously sticky. And it was big enough that I saved some for later.

I normally like Cafe Hagen so this review is just for this location. I think this is probably the worst of all locations and it impacts my opinion of Cafe Hagen chain a bit. Before you come here there is a few warning:

Internet here is not functional/limited. They impose an hour limit to internet connection here, which can be annoying if you are trying to escape your office for more than an hour. The coffee shop is never full so it is not like they need to rush ppl out. Also, the internet might not working at all, though you are connected.

The service. I like the staff so this is not about them but about the service/facilities in general. Let's say you want a nice coffee sitting down, this is not the place. You have to drink out of a paper cup as they do not have real cup for more than 6oz so it feels very much like a take out place though you pay the same price vs other location.

It is a shame that Cafe Hagen does not meet the bar in this location. I would not recommend if you want a relaxing cup of coffee or experience. If you want a take out, of...

I am writing this review to inform the company of what I found. If there was a way to give a review on the Cafe Hagen website, without giving my phone, email, and address, this review would have been there and in private. I also looked for a number to call on their website, and all I got were computers. To start, I really like the place and have only wished that there is more seating, because it is a great place to read and have coffee.

On 16NOV2024 I bought a coffee and pastry. When I made my purchase, there was a gallon of Best Foods mayonnaise sitting on the counter. That mayo stayed there for the hour I was having my coffee, and I never saw it touched one time. I have no idea how long it was on the counter before I arrived or after I left.

The second issue was the stools at the long table. All of the stools wobbled very easily when I sat on them. I personally believe it is from the screws in them being loose. From my perspective, it would be very easy to fall off of the stools, or even have one of them...
