You could call it a fitness studio but it's a family. After the pandemic took me out of everything, I wandered into Row House SLU just to see what it was. I signed up for more info and was super non-committal about trying it out (there was always an excuse). Had it not been for the warm and gentle persistence of the GM at the time, I probably never would have actually gone back. As soon as I tried my first class, I was hooked. Think spin but on rowing ergs. The positivity and inclusion is in every square inch. I signed up for 4 classes a month, quickly switching to 8 classes and even more quickly switching to an unlimited membership. The app is easy to use and allows you to track your progress and compete with yourself. The coaches are phenomenal and have your back at every turn. The owner is kind and funny and filled with the knowledge and encouragement everyone, even the most seasoned rower, needs. The other crew members (rowers) are equally as positive and kind. It's impossible to not make friends and have some laughs while getting a full body workout in. You could call it a fitness studio - but...
Read moreI have been to this gym since 2022 (and am lucky enough to have gotten a soft founders unlimited membership when ownership switched to former head coach Niki) and I’ve been so consistently impressed with Row House SLU! Niki Michelle and Stacy are my favorite coaches to attend classes with. Their classes are so high energy, have killer music that prevents you from being bored, and the coaches really take the time out to give you personalized consistent advice on rowing/exercise form if you ask. Row House SLU has one of the best approaches to membership and membership freezes I’ve ever seen in a gym - if you’ve been burned by Orangetheory or Crossfit other greedy gyms, you’ll know that finding a gym that accepts that emergencies/life happens and doesn’t punish you for it, is a Godsend. As for the studio, even on a hot day or a full class the erg room is kept as well ventilated and cool as possible (in contrast to the West Seattle Row House which is always hot). I always looked forward to classes here and leave a class feeling energized and ready to...
Read moreI was visiting Seattle for my daughter’s week-long soccer tournament and needed a place to work out. I love rowing on my Peloton, so I first searched for a location that offered rowing. As fortune would have it, there was a RowHouse (which I’d never heard of before this trip) near our hotel. The signup process to take a class was extremely streamlined and user-friendly, which is always a plus. When I arrived at class, the owner, Niki, welcomed me in, inquired about my past rowing experience, and introduced me to the row instructor for the day, Keegan. I had such a great class that I signed up for three additional classes, one of which was my third anniversary of getting sober. Maya, the coach that day, was enthusiastic and supportive of my accomplishments and even made a sign to congratulate me during class. Even though I have a Peloton Row at home, I’ll be sure to look up the local RowHouse to refer others looking for a great rowing workout. If you’re in the South Lake Union area of Seattle, give this RowHouse a try, you...
